After the false alarm panic last year, the same grandson's girlfriend is definitely pregnant. And everybody seems to be delighted (except her mother apparently) .....I suppose we got used to the idea it would happen sometime. (September.)
- and he is buying baby clothes!

Can't wait to hear my sister's reaction to being a great-great aunt!

I have written an article about my family in the 19th century, for the library of a Scottish forum - a new departure for me. I have sent it in and am waiting to hear about it.

My daughter is doing a course aimed at qualifications for a customer relations job - it's all change time.

That's exciting news for you Alie. Are you sitting knitting in a rocking chair yet? smile

AlieOxon Mon 25-Feb-13 15:49:24

Haven't got a rocking chair any more - I gave it away. I shouldn't have, it was comfortable.

...........Am I supposed to knit something?.......what???

kittylester Mon 25-Feb-13 16:06:15

And get a granny perm!! Great news Alie flowers

AlieOxon Mon 25-Feb-13 16:36:44

I read that as a 'granny permit'!
Think I got one of those about 25 years ago...!!

Do I really have to knot - sorry, knit - small things?

JessM Mon 25-Feb-13 16:54:05

Congratulations. Hope you are well.

AlieOxon Mon 25-Feb-13 17:04:50

Thanks folks. I think I sound a bit stunned actually.

Jess - health is up and down, but colitis not troubling me very much.

My daughter is now trying something else new, and making flapjack. and ringing me every few minutes to check on the recipe!
It is in the oven and she says 'well if I get biscuits, it should taste all right....'
(She's a very good cook of savoury things, but has avoided cake and stuff!)

Great news for you Alie and did you get that holly sorted smile a round your gutter x

Galen Mon 25-Feb-13 17:29:01

You could always crochet something instead?

harrigran Mon 25-Feb-13 17:29:44

Congratulations Alie, I think if I had to knit for a baby I would knit a toy.

AlieOxon Mon 25-Feb-13 18:03:43

london, the holly is cut back and the ivy on the roof is slowly dying....but still no news when/if the council will do any clearing.

Hi Galen, good name. I have only ever crocheted strings.....I know the principle but have never made anything!
And my greatgranny made Irish lace.......

* harrigran* maybe a toy is a good idea....but would have to find something good.

My little grandson has renamed me 'G-ma'. I googled it and must ask him if it's Grocers, Music or America!

AlieOxon Mon 25-Feb-13 18:04:12

Why don't my asterisks work?

london Mon 25-Feb-13 18:10:09

Fingers crossed alie it gets cleared x

AlieOxon Mon 25-Feb-13 18:13:49

All of them.....
