Another Scam

Hi everyone, just thought I would warn you all of another scam that someone tried on me yesterday. I received 3 phonecalls from a woman that came straight on the phone, said she was Stacey from Argos and I owed a bill. Just like that,without asking for anyone by name, hmm a little strange I thought, on the third call I asked her who she was after, "Rachel" she said. Now, by what and how she spoke, I knew this was a scam, especially as after the third call I received a call from a man supposedly from Vodaphone saying a similar story!! I have informed Argos and they suggest to try and get a number to phone back if they do contact again and then to inform them and the police. It just makes me so cross that some people just want to rip us off and thought I better pass this on to GNers because luckily I haven't bought anything from Argos but someone else might have and quite easily get stung. Please pass this on GNers to anyone who might be in need of this info. Thanks.

Thanks Pam this is a new one on me too.

I received a telephone call yesterday from someone with a strong Nigerian accent saying that someone at my address had reported an accident in the last 3 years. Told her no-one had had an accident said goodbye and hung up. She immediately rang back to ask why I had hung up on her! Repeated what I had said before and hung up again. I have to say the fact that she rang back did leave me feeling a bit anxious.

I have had a similar call Barrow, he argued that I or someone in my house had an accident, hmm as only me and DH I told him I do not think so and hung up. Also a strong Nigerian accent as were the calls i received yesterday from "Argos" and "Vodaphone". And yes it is not good when they phone you back, why do we have to keep putting up with all these scams and cold calls. I actually asked someone who said i was owed ppi where he had got his info from, I told him it was illegal and if i was contacted again I would call the police. I actually haven't heard for a while but they will, I am sure start again.
