St David's day!

It's also my BiL's 73rd birthday. And, I have a vase of daffodils in the hall smile

I always buy Daffodils today in remembrance of my Mum and Grandparents , I've just been to 2 supermarkets and no daffs sad maybe OH will remember and bring some in with him smile

Primary schools in Wales make a big thing of St David's Day - or did when I was still teaching - special assemblies and often an Eisteddford. The children learned songs and hymns in Welsh. Sometimes there would be an assembly or concert for the parents too.
They all wore some form of national costume to school - girls the traditional type and mostly the boys wore Wales rugby tops. Plus of course daffodils everywhere.

I rememember school assemblies on Saints Days.....the appropriate flag was always flown. If you were in the Brownies or Cubs you wore that uniform to school on Saints Days.

For some reason St David's day seems to be forgotten I remember at school we celebrated the four Saints Days but not in school's now,I asked youngest DGS if they where giving out daffodils but he said nothing been mentioned.I do however have a leek in fridge for cabbage and leek soup and a nice vase of daffs on the table.
