Lucky person your friend to have such a friend that he can ask to take him to the hospital at that hour of the morning.

Nice to know there are still good guys out there.

She sounds like a right grumpy old cow. Take no notice, Frank.

HUNTERF What a very rude and ungrateful woman. She might at least have thanked you for turning out at five o'clock in the morning to take her son to A & E. What possible difference would it have made to her to be disturbed at five, rather than hear about him at eight, by which time the problem had proved to be "not over serious". In fact, you probably saved her three hours of unnecessary worrying. When I was last admitted to hospital for emergency, life-saving surgery, I didn't telephone my mother, also in her eighties, until several days later once drips and catheters had been removed.

I think you did the right thing, Frank 5am is no time to be calling. Might have been a bit different if it had turned out to be something serious.

I took my friend who is now 62 to hospital at 5am this morning.
As it turned out to be not over serious he phoned his mother to tell her what had happened at 8am when she normally gets up.
I am not sure of the mother's exact age.
We were reprimanded by the mother for not phoning her on arrival at the hospital.
She said your children are your concern whatever age they are and I can not dispute that.
I did feel at the time however that you would only get somebody out of bed who must be 80+ if it was serious.
