Rory is in trouble!

Last evening, Rory went outside to sit alongside his wifelet-that-was and adult daughter [both have been spayed]. It's a ritual. They sit and stare, and once the visitors have eaten, off they go into the forest, and in comes Rory. Another black cat was spotted in the garden a couple of nights ago. Tough and youthful in appearance. We wondered was it an offspring of Rory's?

Rory was late, so I called him to come in. When he eventually reached the back door he was in one hell of a state.confused He had either been hit by a car or he had had an almighty big scrap with another cat and he was DRENCHED almost as if he'd been under water [the burn is close by]. His back leg was dragging. His nose bloody. He kept shaking his head, and we noticed that something has torn hair out from behind his ear.

Naturally, we need to get him to the vet. He refuses to be handled. We cannot get him anywhere near the cat carrier. The vet is 24 miles away. I've spoken with the vet and she is to phone me back after two. Talk about distressed...sad

Having a weep with you soop. Wonderful news. Those long lasting antibiotics have made life so much easier -imagine having to give tablets several times a day! sunshine

Also taking a break from cooking dinner to see if there was any news. Wonderful to hear he's been sorted and is coming home. Poor Rory! Perhaps he'll become even more of a domesticated cat now smile

I'm about to shake the fleece and make his bed as comfy as possible. When he feels peckish, there will be diced chicken in his dish. He's such a very fine pussy cat. grin

Ruth, the vet, has just 'phoned. Rory, who she guesses is "an old boy of ten long years or more," has sustained an injury to his foot...puncture bite marks. His left ear is also badly inflamed. The missing fur behind the ear suggests another nasty bite. He's been sedated and given long-acting antibiotics to ward off possible infection. The WONDERFUL news is...he's being brought back to us. smile Thank you for all the very kind messages. I'm about to weep tears of relief.

Oh dear, poor soop. It really is such a shame he's been injured, but the fact that Rory returned 'home' is a great testament to your care and consideration for him. I shall watch this space....... flowers

Let us know the minute you find out his results, soop? Bless the wee soul. But he did come back to you when he was injured, instead of running away to the forest as he may have done before if he was afraid. The vet will sort him and he'll be home with you soon. xx

shysal Mon 11-Mar-13 15:55:50

I am so sorry you have this problem with Rory, so soon after he became friendly. I hope the vet will be able to handle him, she will have the knack I am sure. Cats seem to heal remarkably well from serious injuries, so fingers crossed for a happy (and not too expensive) outcome. Positive vibes to you, Mr Soop and Rory. flowers

We're all rooting for him soop! xx

soop Mon 11-Mar-13 15:24:41

Oh dear! Many thanks for the kind messages. The lady vet has managed to contain Rory. It was an awful experience for him. He hid behind the sofa and has weed all over the floor. He's obviously terribly stressed...as are we. The vet will sedate him and he'll have an Xray. Must wait for the verdict later this afternoon.

Need to go out for a while. I shall update you all in due course. Daft, I know, but we really love that moggy.

Sook Mon 11-Mar-13 15:20:41
