I can't see how to get into the Cheshire one but Anno and Wheni'm can. Its not fair.

I like the picture of Astbury Church and daffodils but they are not quite out yet this year though!

Thanks annodomini, whenim64 and Sook for your support for Chester. I've been working hard on listings for the website, keeping the Facebook page and Twitter feeds going, and even doing some local radio interviews for the national launch day. Big steps outside my comfort zone, but I'm glad I did it. Then I realised I hadn't checked the local forums for a day or so and have just been on there. One of the other local editors said its a bit like the old stage act where you try to keep all the plates spinning by jumping around from one to the other. The minute you stop working on one, something else needs attention.

Where have you looked for it gillybob ? On the map or in the searchbox?

Sook Wed 10-Apr-13 07:21:59

No Glass I haven't seen *GillieB" around for quite a while either.

Can't understand why our local forum is Hexham. Surely it should be Newcastle or am I missing something? confused

I've popped into Chester and had a look around and left a hello post all seems good with some interesting information, not able to get profile pic's up on there though, does anyone know do I have to do it myself or will it show at a later date ?? GNHQ any idea's.

imbroglio Tue 09-Apr-13 18:16:14

@Lilygran thankyou I like yours too. Well I don't understand why there is no local site in our area. I am a new entrant to gransnet and think perhaps, we could find a way of spreading the news about it. I only came across it myself by accident, so obviously. it is not getting enough publicity. will poke around and let you know what I come up with,

Morning Geraldine...re.`local posts` is there one up and running yet for South Staffordshire specifically Cannock,Lichfield,Tamworth area yet? what does being an editor require?Information required please.hmm

whenim64 Tue 09-Apr-13 10:10:05

I've added posts in a couple of places anno, as well as the Manchester one. We could put our next N-West meet-up on there.

annodomini Tue 09-Apr-13 09:37:19

Let's think of something, Sook. We Cestrians should be able to fill a local forum.

Elegran Tue 09-Apr-13 09:24:04

If your local forum looks a bit bare, the solution is to post something - anything - to start the ball rolling. People are scared of an blank page but once it gets going they respond. It is the first impetus that takes a bit of effort. (not that the Edinburgh site has an awful lot of posts yet)

Sook Tue 09-Apr-13 09:00:08

Chester seems to be up and running smile but not many topics or posters yet.

Like the look of it so far.

Lilygran Tue 09-Apr-13 08:36:01

South Yorkshire Local doesn't seem to have any entries or posts and I looked at a couple of others to find the same. Are we waiting for advertisers or members to post information?

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 09-Apr-13 08:34:08

We have editors for 20 sites and these are really getting going, with lots of listings and the beginnings of conversations. But we had to - and in many ways wanted to - put all the sites up on the web at once. Of course some people have added random listings to the as yet-unmanaged sites and one or two have even had conversations start.

The next phase is to recruit more editors so that the next batch of sites can take off - but of course feel free to add listings or start conversations anyway.

We aim to have 80 sites edited in the next year or so and to roll out around 120 eventually.

The Newcastle site is the same a couple of posts on the Forum, GillieB has posted( not seen her for ages, have you?) but all the sub sections seem empty.

glassortwo Tue 09-Apr-13 08:10:43

Good morning gilly the Northumberland is the same, the Northallerton site has a good bit on.

gillybob Tue 09-Apr-13 08:08:23

Yes I had a peep yesterday Glass and there doesn't appear to be anything there other than the headings.

glassortwo Tue 09-Apr-13 08:03:25
