If it is not slippery I am going to walk to my daughters house and they promised a nice beef dinner today.
I have been asked to get some apple pie and cream on the way round from a shop which has just opened which they were told about by my other daughter yesterday as I had a lamb dinner at her house.
Normally I take them out for a meal every other week but not this weekend due to the conditions.
If it is dangerous I will cook myself fish and chips.

be careful Frank, these people you talk about remind me of people in a Midsomer village!

Very, very cold today had granddaughter yesterday but couldn't take her to the park sadly just too cold so we were stuck in doors being creative with the Duplo.

DH and I were determined to get out today in spite of this horrible weather. Went for a drive ended up in Petworth, West Sussex and found there was a lovely National Trust house there, happily we had our passes with us. Had lunch in their dining room and a good look round the house. Back home now, feet up with the Sunday papers.

Jess

You reminded me.
I bought some hot cross buns on the way to my daughter's intending they would be eat while I was there and I forgot them.
I have just phoned to say they are there.
I am not however walking back through the snow for my share.

Walked over to the wood with DH. It was cold, but once inside the wood, sheltered from the easterly wind and very beautiful.
About to cook chicken dinner and hot cross buns. Wrote a blog about the kind of health advice doctors gave out in the 1930s. If anyone would like to read it, this is the link. I was quite amused. I do like those old medical advice books. bit.ly/Zh9Vk3
Also read someone else's blog - really complicated thing about drug trial design. But laughed at the bit about the company that gave up on a placebo controlled test for libido enhancing gel for postmenopausal women. I could have told them that it is not the kind of gel, it is how you use it that counts. grin Could have saved them lots of money. doh. grin

Just got back from my daughters after a lovely roast beef dinner. Andie enjoyed some beef and veg as well.
Met somebody who gave me the news of my father's ex again. Stopped out of politeness but moved on when he said I should send the family a cheque for £100,000.
He was obviously one of Dad's ex's supporters.

Ordered loads of resources from Amazon for our SA Volunteer team; it took all morning but was quite interesting. All will be delivered straight to Kwazulunatal, obviously. I did find "101 ways to have fun with a football" hard to believe, though! (There was a similar one for netball, BTW)

Then I had a lovely nap; funny how long it takes, now, to recover after a serious night on the tiles!

Theseus is off doing something worthwhile but involving beer too. Meanwhile, wine

Just gor back from visiting DD and DGD in gloucester.

j08 Sun 24-Mar-13 16:41:44

Cooked roast dinner and two puddings. Eaten it all and now slobbing out on sofa with DD watching The Lady Vanishes on catchup. #needtwosofas

Having a lazy-ish day. Tidying up an inspection report before I submit when the DGDs arrived having been to a birthday party in the local church hall. We had a crazy hour playing with the funny plastic toys from the party bags! I gave them a lift home as it felt mean to let them walk up the hill in the the bitter wind. Will have to think about what we are having to eat soon but enjoying R4 A Good Read at the moment!

Also friends coming for lunch tomorrow..shall I cook or go to the pub??? Decisions decisions!

annodomini It's one of my recurring nightmares that I have invited a great load of people to dinner and just before they are all due to arrive I find that we have run out of loo paper. grin

annodomini Sun 24-Mar-13 15:40:13

Didn't intend to go out, but needed essential supplies - i.e. toilet rolls! Need I say that I bought a lot more than that. blush

Nelliemoser Sun 24-Mar-13 15:34:42

Not a lot! Keeping warm, digging through and scanning a few more old photos. A bit of knitting and telewatching. I just wan't to feel some warmth outside.

Church this morning, now surfing the net instead of getting on with a few bits and pieces around the house! I eat my main meal around 7.00 pm so don't have to start cooking just yet.

Grannyeggs Sun 24-Mar-13 14:52:28

Been to church and then long and delicious lunch in the pub round the corner and now feet up with papers and Gransnet. smile

JessM Sun 24-Mar-13 14:11:59

annodomini Sun 24-Mar-13 13:58:19

j08 Sun 24-Mar-13 13:20:14

Scotland or Wales*dustyangel? smile

dustyangel Sun 24-Mar-13 12:26:23

DH and I going out for lunch,as a late clebration of our birthdays this week. The sun has just come out so we might be able to sit looking over the local Marina. Very cold winds here but better than snow bound England! Hopefully get to Church tonight, which always seems a bit like cheating.confused

harrigran Sun 24-Mar-13 11:58:53

I am having a rare Sunday at home. We have no snow but it is bitterly cold. Roast beef dinner and maybe some trashy TV smile

j08 Sun 24-Mar-13 11:04:21

Hope you make it to your daughter's house Frank. Enjoy your lunch. (smile)

Maniac Sun 24-Mar-13 10:59:19

Just been invited to early evening meal by my Japanese neighbour. It will be vegetarian but very good.-and with a noisy accompaniment from their 2 children aged 3 and 18 mths! I babysit for them but can't manage both at once on my own unless they are tucked up in bed .
It's windy and bitterly cold so will stay in rest of the day.
Keep warm and well all

nanaej Sun 24-Mar-13 10:32:52

Extreme fish & chip cooking.....

nanaej Sun 24-Mar-13 10:32:25

To put a little excitement into life????

Ella46 Sun 24-Mar-13 10:30:48

Why would you want to cook fish and chips if it's dangerous?

glammanana Sun 24-Mar-13 10:28:16

annodomini Have you heard of those "pop up restaurants" that appear everywhere now ? seem's we have the same.
