If it is not slippery I am going to walk to my daughters house and they promised a nice beef dinner today.
I have been asked to get some apple pie and cream on the way round from a shop which has just opened which they were told about by my other daughter yesterday as I had a lamb dinner at her house.
Normally I take them out for a meal every other week but not this weekend due to the conditions.
If it is dangerous I will cook myself fish and chips.

Hi anno. I have four now, and a list of possible meeting places.....

The 'Singing for fun' group is happening for the first time tomorrow - well, the first time actually singing. There's a suggestion of folk songs - I like.

Our thin coating of snow has now gone....but I didn't feel like going out! Too cold for me.

Ariadne Tue 26-Mar-13 21:32:48

Such a beautiful, sunny, cold day here, but it was nice to go out in it for a while.

annodomini Tue 26-Mar-13 20:07:22

Good for you, Alie. Do not despair! These groups sometimes take a while to get off the ground. Our creative writing group looked as if it might collapse at one time but now has around 12 active members and we are preparing a booklet of our work to sell to members.

I like the poem too. feetle!

I've recently joined the new U3A here.
Having been sent a list, today I emailed 26 people about a new U3A Family History group which I've foolishly offered to organise....
........now I'm waiting as replies come in slowly. It WILL happen, if I have anything to do with it!
So far there are three...

Well so what. I can discuss FH with three just as easily as 23 - in fact it might be easier!

annodomini Tue 26-Mar-13 15:27:49

Thanks Feetlebaum. Did you ever see the film? There was a cinema owner (manager?) in Christchurch, New Zealand who was so obsessed with the film that he showed it in his smallest cinema every Sunday, though I think the earthquake two years ago put paid to that. As far as I know, it didn't drive anyone to suicide down under.

soop Tue 26-Mar-13 14:55:24

feetle The poem is beautiful.

annodomini Just for you ---

GLOOMY SUNDAY
(Sam M Lewis/Rezső Seress)

Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
Sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
Let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressin' you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessin' you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart, dear
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin' you
How much I wanted you
Gloomy Sunday

Gally Tue 26-Mar-13 10:52:39

I'm just about to go to bed. DGD age 7 months has finally gone to sleep having been awake and wingeing since 6 am and we are all exhausted. Think it's 'The Teeth'. moon

Love those course titles kittylester . Bad as the Drunk Driving courses etc. You get the same syndrome in job titles like:
teenage pregnancy coordinator
or my favourite which was : rolling prisoner rehabilitation worker
hmm
I'm in the cafe, trying to do some work. Avoiding cabin fever. Planning to take car out this pm and score lots of strong cardboard boxes to pack the books.

kittylester Tue 26-Mar-13 05:28:52

GN sad shame you have to leave but you will have fabulous memories of this latest visit. sunshine

Today, I am going on a Domestic Violence Course (not to learn how to do it, obviously but to learn about the implications for people coming to court) I usually enjoy going on refresher courses but this week I am so flipping busy that I could do with the day at home, catching up.

Also, today is DD3's due date so I shall be on edge all day and, probably, for the next 10 days or so. grin

Waiting round airports then flying - for another 15 hours!

harrigran Mon 25-Mar-13 19:15:55

Had a trip to the Metro centre to shop for food in M&S. Children's clothes have 20% off today, well it would be rude not to buy anything grin

JessM Mon 25-Mar-13 13:56:45

Thank you jo8 - hope you are feeling better now.

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 12:59:06

Yet another sweeping generalisation from Frank

HUNTERF Mon 25-Mar-13 12:01:54

I don't know if they have a shed.

Frank

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:36:55

Hey Frank! do you think if I brought my 100,000 pounds I could live in their shed?

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:29:07

Sorry!!! 65 thousand pounds!

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:28:27

Im glad you welcome us. I hope they bring lots of money with them. I think when I looked it up, people over 62 must have at least 65 pounds a year to live there. To make sure we wouldn't ever need help. Makes since to me.Wish you could make other people bring money with them?

absent Sun 24-Mar-13 19:17:21

Envious We do, we do. I think Americans count as quite a high level of immigrants in this country – and how good is that? smile grin [party whistle blowing emoticon] [streamers]

Enviousamerican Sun 24-Mar-13 19:10:04

Hummmm, maybe, but not rich enough to move to your country.Which is best of course, you have too many people already. the last thing you need are us in the mix!

annodomini Sun 24-Mar-13 19:06:05

Ah, yes, Envious, there have been a lot of deaths recently in Franksville.

HUNTERF Sun 24-Mar-13 18:54:54

Enviousamerican

American's are rich so you could send them £100,000 if you want.
