Why does mine seem to need turning out practically every two weeks? Why have I not managed to get matching pillowcases for God knows how long? Who put that bag of flanells right at the back (thought we were getting low on them! hmm

And how do you lose a sheet?!

Do charity shops take sheets (no longer deep enough) and odd pillowcases?

Ana Thu 28-Mar-13 11:55:17

On top of the wardrobe?

Galen Thu 28-Mar-13 11:44:05

Under the bed?

j08 Thu 28-Mar-13 11:32:11

Tearing my hair here! [ grin]

Ana Thu 28-Mar-13 11:28:26

No. You've probably put it somewhere else because it was too big to go in the airing cupboard, jingl smile

It's not actually possible to lose a whole double duvet is it?! (retreats to corner of room, arms round knees, wailing)

Don't know what I would do without my large airing cupboard-or my step in larder(not quite big enough to call a walk in larder.) Only trouble is at this time of year we are llikely to starve as the larder is so cold we daren't open the door!

My airing cupboard is in the corner of the living room, well, dining room if daughter wasn`t in what used to be the front room. It was built in here by the previous owner of the house. Although the new green covering on the newer water tanks prevents most of the heat getting out, I still dry excess washing in there. All my bedding, towels, curtains and bath mats,( 7 or 8 sets) are in the walk in cupboard under the stairs, also entered from the living room.

Just got back from the Steeleye Span concert. It was very good, Tegan. Lots of new stuff I didn't know but because there were no programmes I couldn't really follow the songs they were singing based on Terry Pratchett's writing. The jigs and reels were good foot tapping stuff which I found a bit tricky because the lady sitting next to me had a gorgeous guide dog who insisted on lying across my feet!!

They ended up with a singalong of their best known songs. grin

Got ruthless with the contents of my airing cupboard when I realised I didn't need 25 sheets and several duvet covers in case I did some decorating.Took the whole lot to my dog's boarding kennels for bedding.

I lost a valance from the bed in my airing cupboard [I'm sure that's where I put it but it was never seen again; sort of Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe/Airing cupboard'ish...]. being very very cold in Northumberland last week I started using hot water bottles again and, at the top of my airing cupboard are the childrens hot water bottle covers [I bought a hot water bottle back with me; the S.O. said he thought it had perished, but I'm perished at the moment so I'm going to risk it wink]. merlot; please let me know what you thought of Steeleye Span..I saw them the other year and they did their album 'Now We Are Six' even though they admitted themselves it wasn't a very good album, so it was a strange choice; I must admit to not enjoying it much. I used to love seeing Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band at Christmas, but they don't perform round these'ere'parts no more sad. I think this tour is more Parcel of Rogues'ish so, hopefully you'll have a great night. Back to the subject of airing cupboards; in mine are the childrens cot blankets; cushion covers that will never cover cushions again [they're horrid]; lots of flannels [never use them]; an oven glove; an exfoliator; a showerhead [not sure if it's new or old]. The collection of pillow cases show the stages my children went through; transformers, Dennis the Menace; the embarrassing time when my daughters bedroom had the same curtains and duvet covers that someone in Eastenders had [BHS blush]. Woofits [?]. And [gulp] a spider.

Mine is off the utility room. It contains : sheets, towels etc which is what you would expect; also, 2 step ladders, old dog's bed (in case I decide to get a Millie-replacement), bucket and mop, about 14 pairs of j's shoes which I can't quite bring myself to dispose of, an old door, 3 clothes airers, a bag of stuff for Oxfam and some old sailing gear shock
It's one if my projects for a rainy day!

Mine has a defunct vacuum cleaner in it. confused

To get back to airing cupboards, I currently have a cat in mine.

Plus towels, linen, knickers with the elastic gone, the odd sock department (by the time some of them meet their other halves, the yellowing means that the colours no longer match) the t shirt that I spent ages looking through every damn drawer for, and a glass chandelier. confused

ANA , is right I just like the symbols , little things mean a lot .LAL

Really miss not having an airing cupboard. I thought/think they are great.
Unless you left your linen in too long and you would have to wash it all over again because of the yellowing at the folds etc.

I could not put bedding sets in a pillowcase. Very difficult to put a 10 feet square sheet into a pillowcase. Believe me I have tried.

My son has one of those Quooker (?) instant taps and OH and I find the taste
unpalatable.
Basically you are drawing water from a boiler, however long it has been sitting there.

Some good recipes on that site! I noticed the chicken salad used Miracle whip which is a sweeter form of mayonnaise if anyone wasn't sure about it. Yum!

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 19:05:17

Enviousamerican Mon 25-Mar-13 18:41:19
