We are in Cheltenham baby sitting, then, when Ds and DDiL return, are off to the Gower (Rhosili) for the weekend. Praying for reasonable weather; have brought every coat and waterproof I could find!

I've seen it all now. Driving through a neighbouring villlage on my way home from shopping, I spotted a wedding was about to take place. One of the ushers was walking up and down the narrow pavement directing guests to the car park behind the church. He was wearing full morning dress and a high-viz jacket!! grin

Pity I couldn't hang around to see what the bride was wearing.

Snow flurries all day - so strange because even when it comes down thick and fast, nothing sticks. Most of the time the sun is shining, so where do the snowflakes come from? I know someone will be able to answer that!

But WET in this part of south west europe! AND we have a plague of sort of flying ants inthe bathroom that try to infiltrate the hall and bedroom as soon as we open the door.sad

It's welsh here in Wales!

We have had a very pleasant morning here in the south east - we seem to be very lucky this year in our particular corner, snow all around, but not a lot locally. I purposefully wrapped up to walk to the shops (first time for a few days) and was really warm by the time I got there, and even hotter by the time I got back! Looks like rain now, but at least I got some fresh air.

Snow's just starting here, kittylester [Notts/Leics/Derby border]. Is there no end to it? Just don't want to leave the house these days sad.

It's flipping perishing in the East Midlands and the sky looks ominous despite the forecast telling us that there is no snow expected today. confused

No snow here - yet. The last lot has gone, very slowly. Ice on full containers in the garden still.
Cold - but I'm going out to singing group!

I just had a BATH for the first time in a while...don't like the shower much, but I got a bath seat in the bring and buy last w/e and fixed a rope to the support handle (which is out of reach)..........works well.
Why didn't I think of this before?

Madrigal Wed 27-Mar-13 12:27:22

I was going to do a spot of Nordic Walking in the nature park this morning ...and then we had a small snow shower so I changed my mind. I don't mind the cold, but it's the bitter windchill factor that makes being outside so unpleasant.

Last year I spent four months house sitting in south west France and it was fabulous. I only wish I could do the same this year but commitments don't allow it. I'm so fed up with the cold.

Mr F and I have been for a walk around our local Greenway checking out data protected species in a bid to stop building 1,000 houses on greenbelt. Not a case of Nimbyism but protecting our diminishing wildlife.

Mr soop has been to the village shop. Still no power. The freezer stock is ruined and piled high ready for disposal. An emergency kitchen van is parked near the village green. Hot soup and bacon rolls are being given away. Community all looking to help the most needy. A lady coming to use the computer this afternoon. She has had no contact with family since last Friday morning.

And a very good morning from Kintyre. Although we are still experiencing power cuts, they are only for a few hours at a time. This is to be expected as the engineers work tirelessly to restore several thousand homes to the grid. It was snowing at breakfast time. The sun is now shining on an all-white landscape. The Paps of Jura are looking spectacular; their peaks capped in sparkling snow.

A very nice man has topped up our oil tank. He says that he's unable to reach many farms because the drifts are so bad.

Good morning! Snowing again here. Roads clear and pavements like a bobsleigh run.

Oldgreymare Wed 27-Mar-13 10:34:42
