I hope the council will turn up.
The area around the tree is covered with snow.
I am also hoping they will put new turf in in such a way it cannot be seen and the colour of the new turf will match the existing grass.

That's good! Well done! (hope they can do it the snow)

Dulux do an excellent colour match guide, available from all good hardware and DIY shops.

Keep us posted, Frank!

Orca Thu 28-Mar-13 10:53:37

Ana DEH! wink

Ana Thu 28-Mar-13 10:56:37

Have you been at the Urban Dictionary again, Orca? grin

It will probably be green, Frank - will that do? But of course may not grow as the soil is so cold, the council might have been better to wait, but I dare say the pressure had become too much for them smile

The main thing is I want that tree out before it gets established.
I had to put a patch of new turf in on the back lawn 5+ years ago and it still looks different to the rest of the lawn.
My father's ex remarked on it very shortly before she separated from Dad and said I did not make a very good job of it.
The turf is flat and it is still growing so what more could I have done?.

Just had a call to say the council is not coming to remove the tree today.
They said they were dealing with problems caused by the snow.
Poor excuse.

Ground probably rock hard, Frank and as I suggested, too cold for the turf to take.

Ana Don't Encourage Him! Was somewhat bored during recent duty trip to Solihull, so swotted up and my street cred is much higher now. Pity Frankdid take up my offer of a coffee and cake (or a pie and beer). Could have done with some lively conversation grin

Orca Thu 28-Mar-13 14:43:17

Typo 'did not take up my offer....

sunseeker Thu 28-Mar-13 15:17:18

So Frank do you consider the removal of the tree should take precedence over dealing with problems caused by the snow which is probably affecting many people?

sunseeker Thu 28-Mar-13 15:20:12

On second thoughts Frank don't bother to reply - I think I can guess your answer

gracesmum Thu 28-Mar-13 15:27:41

Orca - typo or Freudian slip? smile

NfkDumpling Thu 28-Mar-13 15:33:26

You still have snow?

Orca Thu 28-Mar-13 15:44:35

Sorry to disappoint Grace didn't meet up with Frank though I'd have like to have met the mind behind the posts smile.
I don't think he's as assertive as he likes to think he is; he chickened out of a meet. Didn't you Frank... reply please...

Orca I think he assumed that you are a gold-digging widow who was after his large, four-bedroom, detached house. smile

Anne58 Thu 28-Mar-13 17:22:56

Not forgetting his London pension!

Of course the council should be doing other work rather than digging up a tree in this weather far more important work to be done with regard to repairs caused by the bad weather.
