Another Granddaughter

Just to let everybody know I became a granddad for the fourth time at 00.03 this morning.
Isabelle just about came on the right date and she is 6lbs 9onzs.
My daughter and Isabelle are fine. Isabelle was obviously keen to start life.
One of the nurses does Bums and Tums and she said she knows me. How strange. grin
Isabelle seems to be trying to cross her legs a lot so we think she is trying to practice her grapevine.
My oldest granddaughter who is 6 went with Mum to a bums and tums class earlier this week as there was nobody to look after her at home.
She wants to join but they are not allowed to until they are 14 in Birmingham.
I am not sure of the reason why. We started Keep Fit at 11 at school which was very similar in a lot of respects and I have never heard of any problems with anybody except a that a few men are still doing bums and tums in their 50's and 60's as a result and the odd woman has objected.
Out of interest all my other granddaughters came at Bums and Tums class times which Mum normally attends.
Andie seems a little bit excited. He was the same when my other granddaughters were born. Dogs seem to pick things up somehow.
I will be visiting Isabelle later on and Andie will send her a woof.

Congratulations to you all and welcome to baby Isabelle! flowers

Congratulations Frank and a warm welcome to Isabelle. I look forward to hearing more about her (without any reference to houses, ex-partners, London pensions or Bums n Tums) Surely the miracle of birth puts these lesser preoccupations in their place!

Congratulations from across the pond! You can almost hear your excitement in your posting! smile

Hi LullyDully

Thank you for pointing out the spelling.
I will check with my daughter Isabelle is what was intended.
I went to see Isabelle today and she looks beautiful.
She even gave me a little smile before falling back to sleep.
Andie definitely knows there is a new arrival.
I took him some chicken home as a treat which he normally grabs but he looked around first before eating it slowly still looking around.
Isabelle will hopefully be out of hospital tomorrow morning and we will show her to Andie obviously one person holding Andie and another holding Isabelle.
I don't think Andie would harm Isabelle. He has never bitten anybody but you must remember dogs are basically wolves although we almost think of Andie as another human.
To be honest if Andie got to Isabelle I think he would just lick her.

Hi gracesmum

So you are not worrying Isabelle had BUPA cover from the moment she was born.
We hope it does not have to be used but it is good to know it is there.
I have noticed I have got a birthday present wrapped up from Isabelle for tomorrow.
I do think she may have had some help to buy it.

Greatnan

You are correct we must not forget Andie.
He will be walking in Race for Life this year.
I am not sure if he will raise any money but he will be there to amuse all the women even though he is walking in a ladies event.
Isabelle may go round in a pram and will walk as soon as she is old enough.
Even if Cancer has been eradicated by then I am sure something will take over.

When it comes to the important things I have always found (and we have had some major events espeecially in DH's life) the the NHS is unbeatable.

You mentioned Bums and Tums.
One of the women from Bums and Tums have phoned to congratulate me on behalf of another 5 of the women as well.
Strangely enough my daughters have not attended that class.
Obviously they regard me as being part of that group.
There is something strange going on however.
All the men who attend Bums and Tums only have daughters and at present none have any grandsons but there is still potential for some.

Just to let you know my 2 daughters have said they will not be having any more children as they have got 2 each so it looks my chances of ever having a grandson is zero.
They are all in good health so that is the main thing.

Wasn't suggesting the spelling of Isabelle was wrong just the spellcheck being pedantic. Mx

A grandchild is the sweetest thing in the world .

Those who have them are doubly blessed .

I thought Race for Life was a "girl" thing Frank - I have not seen any men in it the years I have done it. But knowing your opinion on single sex bums n tums I suppose you would not countenance a female -only Race for Life?

HUNTERF Tue 02-Apr-13 10:02:09

gracesmum

Race for Life is a girl thing but men get involved in setting up the equipment, marshalling etc.
A lot more women than men are involved in volunteering and taking part in various CRUK events even when events are mixed.
I have also heard that there is some cases concern is happening about the age of the volunteers.
Several people have been volunteering for years and a high number are 55+.
Obviously a point will come when these people will not be capable of volunteering and replacements will be needed.
I am a prime example.
I have volunteered at several events this year but at 64 the risk of me not turning up gradually gets higher.

Good for you, Frank but I am concerned that if Andie joins the run, he will be "outed" the first time he lifts his leg at a tree and forced to retire - think of the ignominy! grin

HUNTERF Tue 02-Apr-13 11:19:04

gracesmum

I don't think Andie will be outed as one of my daughters will be holding on to his lead and she will be raising money for CRUK.
He also provides amusement and my daughters put a pink ribbon around his neck.
I know it is a girlie colour but Andie does not complain.
