Strobe light headache

A sure sign of ageing, Bags.

I used to get headaches when I went to gigs where DD was playing, a combination of lights and the volume from the speakers. You have my sympathy Bags.

My nephew was prone to severe headaches after being in areas with 'strip lights'. Funny thing is he was a part time DJ and strobe lights didn't affect him.

As you say disco days over Bags or 'take more water with it'.

I remember going to a disco in my twenties and the combination of the heat, sound volume and strobe lighting made me violently sick. I had never felt so awful in my life and in all honesty I hadn't touched a drop of alcohol [halo emoticon]

Having suffered with migraine for most of my life I've never been able to go to a disco or anywhere else that uses strobe or flashing lights. You have my sympathy Bags.

Don't low energy light bulbs work on the same principle as strip lights [which were found to make people depressed/give them headaches etc]?

Me too ga - strobe lights, high contrast TV and computer screens, subtitles in front of a moving background, moving news threads written along the bottom of TV screen, films of moving cars (most documentaries have scenes from the inside of cars I find!) etc. I spend a lot of my TV watching time with my hands over my eyes, peeping through a crack in my fingers till it is "safe" to watch again.

I haven't got a clue. They aren't as bright though are they, perhaps that is the difference or not. He moved to Cyprus 6 years ago not sure what they do there for lighting. He initially worked in a warehouse which was terrible for him and the company moved him to a drivers poition which was very good of them.

Cinema and thunderstorms give me headaches?

Here's a tip galen - I wear sunglasses in the cinema. Everyone thinks I am nuts but it does the job by reducing the contrast.

As I had to drive afterwards, I only had half a glass of wine and then drank tap water, so plenty water with it this time . I think it must have been the flashing lights.

I like the sunglasses as the cinema idea. I nearly always wear sunglasses when driving in daylight, even if it's not sunny. I find the glare from low cloud and off road surfaces just as bad as strong sunshine.
