Am sitting here listening to the telly in the background (using it like a radio but occasionally popping my head out of the study where I am meant to be working) and enjoying the music, and came on to GN and found this welcome thread. Don't know that much about the Thatcher era - because like people born after her time in office, I'm a newcomer to this country so a lot of it is either superfluous to me or over my head. So I am simply enjoying the spectacle and agree with JO 10:42 post, no one does it like this country. Impressive and quite moving really.

He has just mentioned the ' There is no such thing as society' speach. Good. Perhaps more people will take the time to read and listen to it for themselves before deciding what they make of it. All to easy to soak in other peoples views.
