No other country does it like this one does. What a spectacle.

First big do for new Arch.

POGS Wed 17-Apr-13 12:05:48

Lovely applause.

I wonder how much the Chelsea Pensioners will get from the collection.

She was a good friend to them. Am I right in saying they wanted no flowers but money sent to Chelsea Pensioners for associated welfare expenditure.?

Queen looks so sad

j08 Wed 17-Apr-13 12:12:10

Strange how a living person now becomes just part of a long history.

POGS Wed 17-Apr-13 12:12:47

A fitting ceromony for a lady that tried to do her best during difficult times. Thank you, Maggie T. sunshine

soop Wed 17-Apr-13 12:25:45

Sorry...meant to type ceremony.

janeainsworth Wed 17-Apr-13 12:27:55

Thank you for the thread*jo8*.
Feel very moved, by the Rt Rev Richard Chartres, (what a warm and generous speech) the music, St Paul's Cathedral, and Amanda Thatcher - her grandmother must have been so proud of her.

POGS Wed 17-Apr-13 12:28:24

They said the roar of the applause and the 3 cheers heard outside was wonderful to hear. They must have had concerns.

Well done G.B.

janeainsworth Wed 17-Apr-13 12:31:24

Interesting to hear David Dimbleby say that the plans for the funeral had been in place since Tony Blair's time - that TB, GB and DC were all agreed that it would be ceremonial and in St Paul's.

Galen Wed 17-Apr-13 12:34:53

Welldone jingle
Very nicely done. I was following you in the dentists waiting room.

janthea Wed 17-Apr-13 12:37:56

Beautiful. I managed to get out of the office to see the hearse pass through Trafalgar Square and then rushed back to watch the whole thing on my PC.

Notso Wed 17-Apr-13 12:40:43

Nice thread jings.

Grannyeggs Wed 17-Apr-13 12:43:43

I'm so happy that this country rose to the occasion despite all the warnings of trouble and protests.

gracesmum Wed 17-Apr-13 12:51:38

Ah was that Bernard Ingham brushing away a tear?
I love the words of the Funeral service - the simple dignity and the link it provides with centuries gone by.
