Good morning everyone - cooler here so far today and a bit dull looking. Yesterday was beautifully sunny most of the day but we had a biting wind for much of the time. We were out at a music and barbie function last evening but it was a bit cold so came home early with some friends and I made everyone a delicious hot chocolate ! I hope you all have a lovely day doing a favourite thing.

In Norfolk - Sitting in our conservatory in the sun in my dressing gown with coffee - WITH THE FRENCH DOORS WIDE OPEN!! The birds are all singing their hearts out and it's WONDERFUL! This will be our third day of summer.

My DD1 is asleep still upstairs. She came over yesterday to see my mother who was dying - but has now changed her mind. From being barely conscious two days ago mum was yesterday sitting up in bed, specs back on her nose, eating beans on toast.

Lovely morning here, from inside! The wind changed yesterday whilst we were playing bowls, and from short sleeved shirts we ended with long sleeved pullovers and fleece! Taking son out today, to the bowls open day, he looks forward to that, not the bowls, the hot bacon sandwich. (He has learning difficulties for those who do not know). Enjoy your day, let's make the most of the sunshine, even if it is cold.

I love a hot bacon sandwich myself, printmiss! Hope you both have a good day. It is a soft grey day here.

Fresh and bright in London. Off to watch the Marathon and cheer on 2 friends running, raising monies for kidney research and Cancer research. We've got the tea and cake ready for halfway! #proudasalupin

Early afternoon greetings from a bright, sunny, breezy Kintyre. The mountains are wearing bonnets of cloud. smile

Cooler and duller.

Leaden skies and raining in Milan. Ciao

Galen Sun 21-Apr-13 13:38:40

Going mad today. I'm fed up with just sitting reading files.
So far I've assembled and got into tho oven some barm brack, assembled a chilli con carne in the slow cooker. Just got a banana loaf to do.
Why am I cooking all this when I won't eat it? I've no idea!
I said I was going mad!

Beautiful day here in West London, have just come back from Bushy Park and Hampton Court Gardens about half a mile away. Hampton Court Gardens is carpeted with daffodils and looks so wonderful just had to take some photographs. Fingers crossed this weather lasts it's been so gloomy for so long this year

I have made some more Damson Jam from the end of 2011s frozen batch. Just enough damsons left in the freezer now to put down to my Damson Gin lake.

I have prepared a curry for tonights dinner.

For my lunch I have just had egg and chips! It a fast day tomorrow which is probably a good thing.

annodomini Sun 21-Apr-13 13:59:38

Good for you, Nellie. I've just had sautéed garlic mushrooms on toast and tomorrow is a fast day for me too. What I like about this diet is that on a fast day you can look forward to having something really nice the following day - though I am learning to love cottage cheese with freshly picked chives.

Galen Sun 21-Apr-13 14:04:11

Try cottage cheese with chopped apple, chicken, asparagus, celery mixed with a little low fat mayonnaise, served on a bed of lettuce. Haven't worked out the calories but can't be high and really tasty and filling!

Galen Sun 21-Apr-13 14:07:45

With 6pz of chicken fillet it comes to 348 cals.

annodomini Sun 21-Apr-13 14:14:57

Chicken not for me, Galen - don't eat meat - but I do fancy some asparagus, though in my opinion it should be eaten with melted butter!

Galen Sun 21-Apr-13 14:19:39

It's the butter that's fattening though! I suppose you could substitute marinated tofu made by cauldron foods here in Portishead. I find it very addictive!

Nelliemoser Sun 21-Apr-13 14:32:41

Anno I find Quorn is good for being low in calories on a fast day spice it up with some Tamari & tasty steamed veg.

Good afternoon everyone. After yesterdays lovely sunshine and warmth it was a nasty shock to find the weather had turned chilly again. I have been to my local car boot sale where I bought myself a push mower, yes I need the exercise but also I have no fear that either son will borrow it grin. My fly mower went on walkabout two weeks ago and pleas for it's return have so far fallen on deaf ears. Call me daft but I do like the sound that a push mower makes.

Car boot sales are also an excellent (cheap) source of plants and I came away with six Lace Cap Primulas which I love.

Now off to do a spot of gardening well wrapped up of course grin

NfkDumpling Sun 21-Apr-13 15:08:11

Mmm, the sound of a push mower (preferably being pushed by someone else). The sound of summer. And the new mown smell seems stronger with a push mower too - all in the mind I know.

Nelliemoser Sun 21-Apr-13 15:39:14

Sook you can come and do my lawn with your new push mower anytime. DH doesn't take much interest. I do all the other gardening as it is. wink

Sook Sun 21-Apr-13 16:15:04

Nellie it's the same here grin.

We have been on a 100 mile tour, in T's classic MG, of the byways and roads of Devon, organised by another Rotary club, in aid of the air ambulance. It was amazing! We started off with bacon (or egg) baps in a pub, then off we went. We drove over Dartmoor at one stage, before descending into hidden away villages.
Ended up at an airfield (a little one, somewhere) and had home made cream teas and cakes - in a hangar. A lot of money was raised, and a lot of fresh air breathed in..I am beautifully tired.

It`s been beautifully sunny again in Boston, but not quite as warm. Am still managing without jumpers or cardigans, as opposed to hubby, who`s still all wrapped up!
