Been discussing this with DH and DD1 and they came up with quite a few 'W' ones - mainly where the original word actually started with 'P' eg. PollyWally, PaddyWaddy, PallyWally, PattyWatty. Curious

One exception is my friend I've known since school who always used to be called Janny Wanny

So funny. I'm sitting here on my own giggling like anything at 'Benje from Penge'.

My DD1 was known as Clarabelle and DD2 was known as Charley Farley.

One of our cats, Lucky, is also known as ratty catty. Not sure why.

There's also the wacky backy!

This sounds like a subject for a PhD thesis in linguistics!

We called my DDs AllyPally and LornyPorny- didn't think anything of it, at time, but it sounds awful now

and there is namby pamby.

We used to have a Jack Russell called Benje. DH called him Benje from Penge.

I have a Rhode Island Red cockerel called Rhodie Povey.

My DGS3 has always been called Joshy Washy by the family after being poorly when he was a baby and my old nanna said she thought he looked washed out,poor thing he was only about 18mths and had a tummy bug but the name has stayed with him,his youngest brother is known as Spooky Lukey as he just appears from nowhere

DD1 was called Hannah-Panner and DD2 Georgie-Porgie at school. They weren't impressed. I get called Sally-Pally from time to time and I'm not impressed either! Strange

My nephews have weird names for each other - one is Ark (Our Kid) and another is Cullis - short for bony portcullis because he was once so thin you could see his rib cage.
I always wanted a nick-name at school, but only the popular girls got them!

Hadn't thought of this before but my DGS does get called Oskar Poskar. However his friend is Benny Henny.

I can relate to that from experience in my own family, G23 but can't explain it.

It might be that having had the mouth in position for the Y, the easiest sound to move it to may be a P.

And there was the famous Andy Pandy who might be relevant. Or might not.
