I have surprised myself [fluffy thread!]

I surprised myself by really enjoying the Rory Gallagher tribute band, Sinnerboy, last Friday night. A big stadium sound in a village pub (friend's retirement do) made me wish I'd taken earplugs - or some cheese like on Allo Allo but would I go again? You bet I would!!

I surprised myself a few weeks ago when I was on the telephone to someone and I really, really lost my temper. I cannot ever remember being so angry at anyone - ever. In my whole life!! I didn't recognise myself in the screaming virago I became - even, at one point, slamming my hands on my desk in anger and really raising my voice.
I described my behavour to my family and they found it hard to believe what I was telling them about my conduct - we were all quite shocked! I felt quite put out for days afterwards although my anger was totally justified and I'm not sorry for it.This week I have discovered some information which makes me equally angry - with the same person. I have decided not to contact the person (I do need to eventually) until I am sure I can conduct myself properly.

Ooops! Not exactly a 'fluffy' contribution.

I surprised myself by wanting a set of headlight eyelashes for my car.They are so naff, but I love them. However I resisted the temptation to buy them, contented myself with some chrome effect halo and wings to surround the boot logo. I already have a selection of seasonal aerial balls, leopard print head restraint covers and a huge flower in a vase attached to an air vent. The dangly leopard fur dice are unused because I couldn't find anywhere go hang them without obstructing my view. The love of leopard print is because my cats are that colouring. I think I am going through a second childhood!

Another surprise today was when I found myself reprimanding a car salesman for making sexist comments (see AIBU thread), so against my normal placid shy nature, but very satisfying!

GA You probably surprised the person on the other end of the telephone too. Good! If you are normally calm and logical it has all the more effect when you go over the top.

I went down a slide with my grandson today! A few months ago I wouldn't have tried it but having finally shifted all the extra weight I decided to have a go. And I fitted into the chute! Mind you, the wind blew my skirt up as we went down so the dignity went out the window

Leopard print head restraints? Maybe this explains the car salesman's attitude I'm thinking your car probably has a name.

Sel, I have never been a girly girl, the car thing is just a bit of fun for the GCs, and no it doesn't have a name! If your DD would really like aerial balls, they are sold on ebay. I have a Christmas pudding, Santa, Easter bunny, egg, and a witch for Hallowe'en. Between these I use a plain silver ball. I do find it helps to locate my car in a car park. The gerbera in a vase used to come as standard in the modern VW beetles.
And the car salesman hadn't seen my car before his offensive remarks!

I went for a business meeting in Edinburgh on monday and instead of pitching up in my usual garb of jeans etc. I decided to wear a Crea skirt which, after a few weeks on the 5:2, diet I can now fit into. Wore it with boots and a rather fetching top and a coat which only comes out on highdays and holidays.. I felt really good and have vowed to dress up more often. Amazing what it does for the morale.

Gally- impressive. I like the sound of that ensemble. If you look good, you feel good.
You have done well on the 5:2. I am hoping to fit into some of the things I have in my wardrobe before too long.
