Unused Taxi Rank

There is a Taxi Rank at my local shopping centre. Myself and everybody I know has never seen a taxi parked in it as hardly anybody uses a taxi to get to that centre.
The area is now being re designed and it has a replacement taxi rank in it.
Surely if our wasteful council is having a taxi rank built it should pay a driver to sit there in his car all day just to say the Taxi rank is being used.

Well there is a taxi rank sign, shelter and road markings.

Maybe you could suggest they change the sign to "Taxi Rank and Drop-off Point" then drivers could drop their passenger there to get the shopping while they park and sit in the car reading the sporting pages, or chatting on Gransnet, then pick them up again at the taxi rank.

And if they do as I used to, shop while DH went back home, and ring him to pick me up, they would not need to find a parking spot.

Frank, perhaps you could do the 'local knowledge' and become a cabbie..sounds like there is a gap in the market!grin

I think you could be a cabbie and sit in that taxi rank all day.
I don't think you would get many fares.
