I would love to run out with an arm full of rags and bones and see their faces! grin

We have regular scrap dealers driving around the factories where we have our small business. They are constantly on the look out for loot and are often found scratting around in the bins. There is so much money in scrap metal these days that you can actually make a good living out of picking up bits of scrap here and there.

I remember goldfish from the rag & bone man. They came in a little plastic bag of water and rarely survived a week.

They used to give gold fish in exchange for rags, or 'donkey stones' for colouring your front step.

DD has one round her estate quite regularly.

We do see a scrap metal man around here but not with a horse and cart that would be wonderful if we did just think of the good manure for the garden. hmm

I saw a modern day scrap dealer drive along my lane yesterday, announcing his arrival over a megaphone. As I didn't hear what he was shouting, I quickly filled the kettle and washbasin thinking the water was going off! grin

I looked out of the window to see two men diving into next door's skip. They removed all metal objects and drove off, leaving a complete mess on the road.

A rag & bone man has just gone past with his horse & cart. He was shouting 'rag bone' as he went down the road.

He was obviously a scrap metal dealer as the modern washing machine & fridge looked a bit out of place on the cart but it was lovely to see a horse & cart being used.
