It has finally rained here in South Cheshire after about 4pm. Some decent amount of rain for first time in months.

Did a bit of digging then scanned some of the old family photos I eventually found in their "safe place!

I have done a photo montage by sticking a photo of my sons head onto the shoulders of my maternal grandfather and putting my Grandfathers original picture by the side of it. Its startling.

The only real difference is the nose. My son's nose is definitely from my DH's mums family and shared with some of DH's cousins.
I shall be interested in how my son will react when he sees it.

Hope the easing continues, harri flowers

Glad you're feeling better Harri smile

Lovely evening sunshine
Today is the first day for a fortnight that I have felt relatively human. The cough is easing smile

Yipgrin they've now gone and I'm exhausted.
Dd is feeling her pregnancy, so just wanted to relax and nap most of the day!
I cooked lunch for them, chicken, jersey royals, carrots, gravy and then was too exhausted to eat it myself!
This is the first Sunday lunch I've cooked for years as I eat in the evening rather than lunch.

Galen. What a great way to start your day!

Good afternoon from a dull, blustery and much cooler Boston.
Soop, love the bat story, good job Rory wasn`t with you! I can`t understand why people don`t like bats, I stand out at the front of our house sometimes on summer evenings, watching them swoop around, and being amazed at the built in sonar that stops them hitting anything! I do wish, although it`ll never happen, that one would land on my shoulder.

Butty Sun 28-Apr-13 13:20:00

soop Totally get the being in a world of your own when engaged with art stuff!
Third time lucky for Lucy perhaps smile.
Loved your bat story - but I found myself hoping it wasn't an Owl who found supper on the window ledge shock.
Do Owls eat Bats??

soop Sun 28-Apr-13 13:13:38

Bags When Mr soop and I were working at "the big uninhabited house" , I came across a teeny weeny hairless bat. It was lying on the floor of the upstairs corridor. We also discovered a live adult bat, in the bath. It must have been searching for water. We carefully placed both bats together on a sheltered, wide, window-ledge and tucked a tiny container of water nearby. There were hidey-holes in the ancient eaves of the property. The big bat and wee bat made their way to safety. We never saw either of them thereafter. smile

Stansgran Sun 28-Apr-13 11:36:57

Overcast but bright overcast not leaden here in Durham. Cold though.

Bags Sun 28-Apr-13 11:29:02

Soft and misty here too, soop, but the bats are back into their summer roosting place in the porch. In winter they go under some roofing lead in a gable valley.

galen, best way to be woken up smile

Good morning from a soft, misty grey, Kintyre Sunday.

Butty About to draw Lucy's cat portrait - attempt number three. Now I understand why it was, as a child, I wanted to be artist [when I "grew up"] From the moment I open the paint box, I am in a world of my own. Time flies! And, if at the end of a session, I haven't succeeded, it matters not. I shall start all over again, until I'm happy with the outcome. smile

janeainsworth Sun 28-Apr-13 11:02:38

Galen There's just nothing like it, is there? sunshine
No sunshine in Northumberland at the moment, so instead of gardening I will have to face up to clearing out the glory-hole. Will need brew, and possiblycupcake to sustain me.

nanaej Sun 28-Apr-13 10:54:37

Morning, misty and a light frost earlier but some blue sky and a bit of sun now!
Am off to buy a new camera today. My old one is slowly giving up on me & the zoom is limited and I want one I am used to by the time I go away whale watching in June! Nothing complicated but a good quality point and press!

After that over to a friend for her birthday celebration!

have a lovely day all!sunshine

nanapug Sun 28-Apr-13 10:39:39

My plans for the day are to garden this morning, as it is a lovely sunny day, and knit this afternoon. I love this retirement lark!!

annodomini Sun 28-Apr-13 10:23:49

Still a bit dull in Cheshire, but seeing GD1 for lunch which should be a cheerful event. She has to tell me all (?) about her 'spring break' in Florida. sunshine

Back after a few days spent with my DS and his lovely family. My oldest DGD had her 4th birthday party on Saturday, so I went up a bit earlier to help with the shopping etc - Saturday both grannies were at it making sandwiches etc. Daddy was getting suitable pop music ready and then we all hauled it off to the rented hall - which is also my DGD's nursery school. The children had a wonderful time, the 17th month old GD joined in as much as much as she could. My son really should hire himself out as a childrens' entertainer, he is a natural and seems to hit the right level with his humour. My GD was given some fab presents, which was lovely to see as her mummy is so generous with presents.
Now back in Dorset, sun is trying to peep through and it is a bit chilly. My cat hasn't stopped purring since I got home.

vegasmags Sun 28-Apr-13 09:51:57

I love that maniacgrin. The worst is when you convince yourself it's Saturday but it's only Tuesday!

Chilly and grey here in Manchester. First job of the day - clear up the kitchen and last night's dishes after cooking for friends and having a little too much wine to be bothered to clear up.

Tegan Sun 28-Apr-13 09:46:45

Just off to Ludlow Races, but taking in Ludlow itself which I understand is quite beautiful. Blue skies in Derby; lets hope it stays that way as we venture westwards [south westwards?].

Galen Sun 28-Apr-13 09:41:21

Morning. Woke up to very clear piping voice down the corridor demanding to know where graggy was.

Maniac Sun 28-Apr-13 09:22:11

PRINTMISS Sun 28-Apr-13 09:04:28

Lovely bright morning, but chilly. Enjoyed the day yesterday catching up with friends at Amberley Museum, looking forward to our four day break starting tomorrow. Our third attempt at a holiday with friends.
