Frank I completely agree with you - it is not reasonabe to expect a person to move house smply becase a nursery has been built built nearby since he moved in.

Would YOU agree that it is perfectly reasonable to expect that chidren should be able to play in safety, with no-one in adjacent properties giving rise to concerns for their well-being?

If your answer involves money, you need to read my question again!

Money and compensation again raising it's ugly head if this chap has been reported to the authorities then they have to investigate, even if he is just spending his time just watching what goes on in the playground he could make parents or minders feel uncomfortable,far better to be safe than sorry,he is more than likely reminising of times when his children where small.

I don't think it is reasonable to expect a man to move house just because they decide to build a nursery at the side of it.
If they thought there were any concerns they should have built the nursery elsewhere or negotiated with him to move paying him compensation.

The solution to the 'Frank problem' is very simple!

I don't know whether Franks post is true or not but it does raise the question of difficulties that lone men can face. I have a friend who lives in Spain, most of his neighbouring properties are holiday homes and his neighbours have given him keys so he can keep an eye on their properties and as a result he has become friendly with them. However, whenever the children come to visit him he never invites them into the house and always sits in his garden with them as he is worried that as a man on his own inviting children into his house could be misconstrued.

Your strange post about children in the playground concerns me because it focuses on money and does not consider, from the childrens' perspective, that the police are duty bound to act on such complaints.

If you are fishing for someone to support your point, Frank I would be more concerned about you! If you don't know what you think about this issue, educate yourself! If you want support to confirm that it's an issue that should concern all responsible adults, including this man who has clearly done something to cause the police to visit and have a word, then why not say so and avoid the inevitable ton of bricks that you regularly invite to descend on you

Even if he had been using binoculars there would be no conclusive evidence he was ogling the children the children.
Dad had some easily accessible binoculars.
He did not use them often and the house does not overlook a children's playground.
If there was an unusual wild bird outside for example he would use them.

Be that as it may dorsetpennt, don't you think the evil ex-girlfriend and her multiple cohorts, the jealous former colleagues, the endless stream of feeble minded women in need of male guidance, the accusatory parents of nursery children and their suspicions, etc. etc would make a great soap opera? As far as I know soap operas don't have to be true or even bear any resemblance to real life.

He probably wants to move because he's fed up with the noise from the nursery playground. Sounds like a good ploy to me.

Why are they complaining? Has he been spotted ogling the children through binoculars or something?

I don't understand why people feel they can judge others by outward appearance.
