Our new granddaughter arrived on Monday after a very difficult and traumatic birth. It was touch and go at one point but the re-sus team were magnificent and she seems to be doing well now. She is to be called Maisie Juliet. Maisie after her great-nan and Juliet because the family are all lovers of Shakespeare: her Mum is Jessica and her aunt is Rosalind. Thanks to the staff at the RBH Reading

Thank you for your good wishes everyone smile. He was delivered by forceps as he was lying face down in the birth canal so his head is a bit misshapen and as he has a large mole on his spine, he will have a scan/tests for Spina Bifida, although dil has been reassured this is just a precautionary measure. Nothing was picked up on the routine scans during the pregnancy. If all is well mum and babe will be home later today.

I did get to give him a cuddle which was lovely smile. I'm just getting ready to pick up DGD and DGS1 as both mum and dad are working today.

Many congratulations Sook .So Xavier arrived just two days late. Brilliant ! I hope you enjoy your first visit tonight . It was 2 weeks before we saw Maisie with her eyes open but now she never closes them especially at night ! She's gorgeous but leads her parents a merry dance . Love the name Xavier by the way. Most unusual. flowers

My third grandson arrived this morning smile at 07:14am his name is Xavier William and he weighed in at 9lb 3oz. Off to see the bonny lad later this evening.

This verse was written in a card I received on the birth of his Daddy almost 33 years ago I thought I would share it with you.

Now from the coasts of morning pale,
Comes safe to port they tiny sail,
Now we have seen by the morning sun,
Thy miracle of life begun.

Thanks everyone.I have the greatest respect for the Maternity Department at RBH.I had all 3 of my children there, Maisie's maternal grandmother had her 4 there and all 7 of Maisie's cousins were born there too.

Congratulations Gorki flowers My son's girlfriend will be having her baby at RBH in the autumn. Hers will be a C section so it's nice to know they can cope with any problems.

Congratulations smile
Close enough to having had my first DGS to remember exactly how wonderful it feels ...and how stressful when worrying about the new mum.

Well done!!
