nanaej - 'All part of life's rich tapestry' was the favourite saying of the lovely Arthur Marshall, but I expect you are too young to remember him!

We once collected scrap newspapers and magazines for charity and my daughter, then aged 10, found a copy of Playboy magazine amongst them. She took it to school and was surprised at how interested the boys were in the pictures. Some parent reported it and I had to explain to the Head - it could have been embarrassing as I was secretary of the PTA and Head of the Remedial Service. Fortunately, he had a good sense of humour (and I think he put the magazine in his drawer!)

Haha! How funny... I have had kids tell me that 'my mummy has handcuffs in her bedroom' before now! Perhaps the head was trying to spare the parents blushes!wink

Surprised at Fire brigade...my SiL (firefighter) had to go to a local high school to cut a 15 yr old girl out of a locker! The girl had got in for a bet. grin All part of life's rich tapestry!

Really po-faced Greatnan, just visiting prospective parents trendy, according to my DD they were smiling too after being told why the two girls were sitting handcuffed in hallway.

Love it Flowerof the west, but probably wouldn't have done when still teaching primary children! You never know what children will get up to, but the big question is, of course, how they obtained the handcuffs in the first place. Obviously didn't look good for any visitors-----hope OFSTED
weren't due a visit. That really would have made me giggle!

Greatnan Fri 03-May-13 17:12:25

What could have gone wrong - they were sitting outside the office, perfectly safe. I reckon the unamused teachers were distinctly po-faced

Nonu Fri 03-May-13 17:04:01

Only trouble is , if anything had gone wrong , ths school would have maybe be blamed. Perhaps that is why 3 teachers did not find it amusing .

Flowerofthewest Fri 03-May-13 16:33:50

Not sure why the parents were not contacted - will ask my daughter smile

whenim64 Fri 03-May-13 10:20:32

I would have been laughing. I wonder why they didn't contact the parents and ask for the key?

That's the sort of thing my twin grandsons would do. They've had me in toy handcuffs when they were three grin

Nelliemoser Fri 03-May-13 09:59:11

I would have been a giggler.

Its just the sort of silly things that Kids do and its probably the bright kids with a bit of imagination. To the girls concerned I am sure it just seemed "a funny idea at the time" but as kids funny ideas do, it backfired.

The sort of stuff my DS might have done. I am afraid.

Flowerofthewest Fri 03-May-13 09:42:45

grin Yep! I too would have been a giggler Sel - Teachers are only human after all - well most are.

Greatnan Fri 03-May-13 07:37:47

It must have been very hard to keep a straight face! (Unless you share Nonu's sense of humour).

Sel Thu 02-May-13 23:56:27

grin I'd have been one of the gigglers Flower what a great story.

Flowerofthewest Thu 02-May-13 23:31:40

Just children! I do wonder where the handcuffs came from though, the mind boggles grin

Deedaa Thu 02-May-13 20:47:25

Sounds horribly like the sort of thing my grandson would do! Hopefully he's not likely to get hold of any hmm

Flowerofthewest Thu 02-May-13 20:39:28

sunshine here too

Nonu Thu 02-May-13 18:05:11

Each to his own Flower .

[sunshine still masses about

Flowerofthewest Thu 02-May-13 17:57:48

I think it was a little amusing Nonu, if not a lot. It was only three teachers who could not see the funny side. The only down side was the fact that public money would have gone on involving the Fire Brigade and Police. In fact both the Police and the Fire Brigade were tickled pink.

laidback Thu 02-May-13 17:57:09

Ha ha...did they not ring the parents and ask for the key? Would have loved to earwig on that convo!!

Nonu Thu 02-May-13 17:52:51

I take the view of the three teachers , it is really not amusing !

gillybob Thu 02-May-13 17:44:06

Blimey you don't half see it all Frank

gillybob Thu 02-May-13 17:43:04

Priceless Flowerofthewest and almost like something you would see in a comedy show. grin

HUNTERF Thu 02-May-13 17:41:20

Years ago I saw a police officer chasing somebody and he dropped his handcuffs.
He had the criminal on the floor a few yards from the handcuffs and somebody returned them to the officer.
I suppose they could have been dropped under similar circumstances and somebody took them.

Bumped into my daughter who works at local infant/junior school. She told us that today at school an identical twin handcuffed her sister to another identical twin (all aged 9) the problem was that the handcuffs were apparently police issue ones and there was no key. They called the fire brigade who said that them coming in would probably scare the children. They called the local police who brought a massive bunch of keys but non fit. The fire brigade was once again called and they came along with metal cutters to free the two. The problem (apart from the handcuffs) was that today was the day for new parents to visit the school and they walked into the building to be confronted by two little girls handcuffed together and sitting outside the heads office. Three teachers were not amused, my daughter and others including the head. were holding back the giggles.

Speculation as to what the handcuffs were used for and where did the girls find them ;)
