The sun came out just as we arrived at Dunham Massey. After we'd had the customary substantial NT lunch, we strolled round the garden which in my opinion is as good as or even better than any other NT garden I have ever seen. There are still drifts of white narcissus; a profusion of hellebores; early rhododendrons and azaleas; and all the trees in the fresh green leaves of May. Not to mention the luxuriant magnolias. A perfect way to spend an afternoon.
