I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Having been ill and out of action for a long time, now that I'm so much better I have been having a Grand Clean. My poor husband came home from work yesterday and nearly had a heart attack when he saw what I'd done and has insisted that I rest for most of today. I sort of have. I needed to take a car load to the tip [tick], I definitely needed to go to the garden centre [tick], and it was very important to go and pick the produce from the allotment [tick]. Of course I will have to convert the pickings into jam this afternoon. So I'm having a bit of a rest now.....grin

And the mist has lifted! Another beautiful day.

I've quoted this before, but never mind:

"So here hath been dawning
Another blue day.
Think, wilt thou let it
Slip useless away?"

Probably..

Thanks for the link, bags, I had been trying to find the blog. I really enjoyed it - you painted a lovely picture in words, Galen. I have subscribed to the SilverTravel site so I could say how much I enjoyed the blog.

Loved the blog, Galen! Thank you.

It was cooler last night, and is this morning, and it is pleasant to be comfortable.

Enjoyed reading your blog Galen
Today we drove home from Kent 20 days after we left for France. Many thanks to Grans in France who turned up the thermostat, we had temperatures of 30/32 every day. Our pool was very pleasant and I was swimming every day but still managed to put on weight.

Thank you all for your very kind comments. I'm no great writer but I thought it might encourage other disabled people to try!
That was the only reason I did it!

That was great Galen, really interesting, and you looked as usual, fabulous!

Great blog Galen - I was with you in spirit for the Norwegian part of your trip; it's my favourite holiday destination in the world. smile

I enjoyed reading that, Galen. And that dress! A Norse goddess, no less!

A super blog of your trip, Galen. I enjoyed all the photos (you included) and particularly loved the turfed roofs of the Faroe Islands.

Galen Mon 15-Jul-13 18:15:10

I'll be in shorts! Bring your own hats!

They do a 'hotel charge' which is supposed to cover tips. You can opt out of this. I prefer to do my own tipping. It usually comes to £100 in total, depending on how good the service has been and how long the trip is.

NfkDumpling Mon 15-Jul-13 17:39:40

It looks like a great trip. Do you have to allow much extra for tips? Friends are trying to persuade us to go on a cruise with them, but they seem to have to spend half as much again on tips, which makes it very expensive.

Galen Mon 15-Jul-13 17:34:04

ThanksBags I still can't do links!sad

Bags Mon 15-Jul-13 17:32:22

I enjoyed it! smile

Galen's holiday blog.

(I think I'm allowed to do that link because the blog isn't selling anything.)
