We all had a lovely meal out tonight, at The Wheatsheaf at Hubberts Bridge, on the outskirts of Boston, most of the family were there, they made me wear a large badge with 70 on it!
Woke up to find 7 baby ducks in the utility room 
. They then went out into my dog pen and it took me an hour to catch them all [lots of nooks and crannies]. Put them in the garden for a while with some water and hoped the parent birds would return. Which they did [sort of] so have put little duckings on the other side of the fence and am now hoping that they are reunited with their mum. They were so cute sat in a bowl of water . There was a lot of twittering and quacking when they were in my garden [put them in an old guinea pig indoor cage so they could be seen and heard but the local cats couldn't get them and they couldn't work their way back into the dog pen]. Had fantasies for a while about being on Springwatch, but thought I'd have to comb my hair and put on some make up so decided against it. Referring back to the thread about good neighbours the co ordination amongst the people of my close this morning has been wonderful, although the maggot provider was having to wait for her SIL to return from fishing and it took the cat owner quite a while to find her cat and shut him in [the baby ducks had been walking up to him earlier this morning which makes one question the intelligence of ducks]. As I have a 6 foot fence all round my garden I still can't understand how on earth they got in in the first place....

Spoke to bird rescue centre just now who told me that maggots would have killed them 
as they eat grass. I would have been a duckling murderer 
. I do hope they are back with their mum now, as the rescue centre would have taken them in and reared them [they have a solitary duckling they are rearing that is lonely..]
We have had a splendid few days staying in in Roscoff, a surprisingly pretty
little town, and touring the area. The weather has been beautiful and we both feel very relaxed.
Today we shall potter up to Caen, stay a few days (it's the D Day anniversary) go to Bayeux and other places. All the times we have visited France, and I haven't been there!
All very pleasant.
I woke up at 5 to the buzz of a mosquito so have been on a mosquito hunt since then - no luck so far - I keep missing the wee b* * * *r and I swear he has doubled in size in the last hour and has eyes in the back of his head 
...awake since 4.30, for heavens sake!!
I am going to be soooo grumpy, this afternoon
Been sitting outside with a coffee, watching a beautiful pale mango dawn. The early light hitting the old stone walls causes the garden to glow.
