I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Oops - forgot about pics! Never mind, it was really nice to meet up with friends. Have a lovely time in Paris, Tegan!

Glad you had a lovely lunch, any pics?
Ariadne, hope you have a great time!

Tegan Tue 18-Jun-13 21:07:03

I'm quite chuffed at being a 'lady who lunches' smile. We definately must do it again!

Ariadne - weather report from Portsmouth area. Lovely warm, sunny evening. Forecast is for overnight rain (which will freshen things up) and warmer still tomorrow. Then cooler and very wet Thursday/Friday.

Enjoy your time with the family - we have ours coming the weekend after (29/30th) which will be brilliant! smile

Packing again! Off to Hampshire to do a bit of emergency child minding for DS1 and DDiL. Oh dear, what a chore (NOT!) grin The two little boys (3 & 4) go to pre school most days, one for the morning, the other for the afternoon, so lots of to and fro-ing. And playing. Can't wait.

Then back Friday afternoon, and the arrival of the Cheltenham family - two not quite so little girls - that evening. These are the athletic ones (mum was the team GB coach) so I suspect that the activity place up the road (THe Big Sheep) will be the place to be. DD and the older DGC will be around too. Chocolate cake made,

So, a full on family session! How lovely. sunshine What's the weather like in Fareham / Portsmouth?

Good for him. It's in the job description for a grandchild to reduce grandparents to quivering jellies.

My DGS4 is not quite 4 and we are taking him to the seaside in July. Asked what he wanted to pack he had a list -bucket , spade, flag (for his sandcastle) ,shells, some fish, a blue boat,a kite,a bucket and spade for grandpa and he hoped his bed would float. We all went very soppy

Elegran I can't wait to receive a list like that. GD is only two but she likes pretty girly things so I live in hope...

annodomini Mon 17-Jun-13 20:20:43

Meeting with my co-organiser of creative writing group to finalise the editing of our anthology of memories. I have just had a phone call from DS2: 'Hi Mum, I'm on my way to pick up B from cubs.' So we had a chat until he reached the church hall where they meet. Then I decided to have a word with DS1: 'Hi Mum, I'm just going out to collect T from cubs.' So I had a chat with GD about this and that. Now my sons know what it's like to be me! I well remember the days when we managed to get about 6 or 7 cubs into my VW Beetle - no seatbelt laws for children at that time...

Today I have been mostly buying and sending a 10th birthday present for granddaughter. The List (read out to me over the phone by her mother) consisted of Nice Clothes, Small Accessories, Small Pretty Things, Books by Roald Dahl or Jacqueline Wilson, Sweets and Chocolates, Lego. Cooking Sets, Games, and Cool Stuff. In short, girly things.

From this you would never guess that she is a small tornado who can compete with her brother (4 years older) in a scrap and yell fit to bring the roof down if she is annoyed.

......enjoying doing absolutely nothing after a lovely but very tiring week of babycare.
Now if the sun would just come out, I could justify unwrapping the garden swing and snoozing the afternoon away!

Have a memorable holiday Galen and I wish you sunshine

annodomini Fri 14-Jun-13 23:32:02

Galen Fri 14-Jun-13 22:55:05

Thanks everyone!
The weather forecast looks dire, but I'm determined I'm going to enjoy myself.
I've worked 4 days this week, which when you take preparation time into consideration is probably nearer 6! No wonder I'm knackerd!
Taxi is loaded and collecting me at 9.30 tomorrow.

I'll touch base occasionally.

Behave yourselves while I'm not there to keep an eye on you!grin

Butty Fri 14-Jun-13 22:01:55

glassortwo Fri 14-Jun-13 21:03:42

galen have a fantastic holiday, dont worry you can buy a new swimming cap. grin

Bags Fri 14-Jun-13 20:55:25

Enjoy yourself, galen!

I've been doing archery with three groups of kids and marvelling at June roadside flowers on my way there and back, and then marvelling at what's flourishing in my rather wild garden and posting pics on my blog, which you can find at the boggybrae blogspot.

Nelliemoser Fri 14-Jun-13 19:58:33

Hmm! not dire or they probably wouldn't have any customers. As it is, it would probably depend on how active the volcanic heat sources are at the time. The volcanic hot spots under the rifts seem to shift around quite a bit. Just enjoy Galen.

Galen Fri 14-Jun-13 19:48:03

My cleaner. Kate nipped down to our leisure centre and got me one. I don't normally bother, I only bought one for the blue lagoon.
How sulphurous is it? I suffer from asthma. It wasn't mentioned as a contraindication.
