Curently painting a green door black. Paint doesn't seem to be sticking to the door [have rubbed it down etc] and drips everywhere. Water based paint but doesn't seem to wash off my hands. Mind you, well chuffed because I got some weed'n'feed on the lawn just before it started to rain .

You know those days where you feel busy but have little to show for it? Took DH to health centre for his INR blood check then got petrol then off to try for new mobile phones as ours are due for upgrade and we seem to be a lot and getting very little for our money. Well, we now have new "smartphones" (Samsung Galaxy) and new contracts with Vodaphone giving us TWICE as much talktime/texts/internet for HALF of what we were paying on Orange. But it took a good couple of hours with a very nice (young, of course) man at the Carphone Warehouse who bless him, spoke plain English not "gobbledegook"!! Then we went to the new Waitrose for a free cup of tea and coffee (courtesy of My Waitrose cards,) and that has been our day!
Job done, but do you ever wonder how you found the time to go out to work?

Today I have been at the dentist having a rather nasty root treatment - an apicectomy - I keep wanting to call it an episiotomy or an appendicectomy - anyway, whatever it was it's not very nice and I am now on 2 hourly pain killers and antibiotics and dreading the anaesthetic wearing off. Hope it's better by Saturday so I can enjoy my Edinburgh afternoon tea to the full .....

There are several of us here who have/have had PMR. I'm hoping to be off steroids sometime this summer and must admit I'm scared of stopping too soon and having a flare-up. For one thing, I wouldn't want to put all that weight back on!

NellieM take heart. If you do get a diagnosis of Polymalgia R then the steroid treatment is like a magic bullet and you will feel better very quickly. Unfortunately when I was diagnosed with PMR I had other problems as well so had to stop taking the steroids and the pain and discomfort was grim, but eventually I did recover.

Good luck with that, Nellie. I can imagine how much pain you've been enduring if that's the diagnosis.

Wheni'm I shall find out tomorrow if the blood tests suggest Polymyalgia R.

Yes Annsixty it was the Sun and the food is good and there was a bird sing its heart out on the roof of the barn. I think the Lake District makes people nice.

Sitting in a chair feeling achy, unmotivated and a bit chilly. The sunshine has gone.

We are now in Folkestone, staying with friends in their beautiful house in Lyminge and catching up on all the gossip. Home on Tuesday, and I am so looking forward to it!

Done it!!! Tegan, I never learn, I trimmed the pots of box too and spent ages brushing up (luckily these are on a hard surface!). There is no answer, secateurs take forever and shears mean you have to tidy up forever!

Is it just me that does something that seems sensible at the time but then soon realises it was a damned stupid thing to do? I always trim things in the garden with seccateurs [sp] but today thought I'd be clever and use some of those things that look like enormous scissors. Saved loads of time and everything was trimmed in a very nice, uniform sort of way. Since then I've spent what seems like hours tidying all the bits off the lawn that I've cut off; when I use seccateurs [sp] I always put whatever I've cut straight into a bucket. I've done something even more stupid in the dog's garden [yes; she has her own garden because she eats everything in mine and if she doesn't eat it she just rips it up and tosses it to one side]. What a plonker [me, not the dog...]

Stansgran Oh what memories you brought back about the pub in Elterwater. Is it the Sun? We have have had, in times past, so many good times there but health probs have intervened but thank you for bringing those times back.

No dishwasher here either - no space for one. But the washing machine? No can do without that. Just bought a new one, my old one having gone in for imitations of a runaway jet engine. It's magic! Hotpoint, whisper quiet, 9 kilo drum, all electronic controls. But until it arrived and was finally installed I was scared I would run out of clean togs... amazing how many pairs of underpants you can find lurking in the recondite depths of an airing cupboard ...

Woke up to grey skies in Durham so took off to the Lakes. Everywhere so beautiful buttercup golden meadows galore,cow parsley ,meadowsweet ,bluebells,campions in the hedgerows and Lakeland gardens ablaze with azaleas and rhododendrons . It all Looked as though the countryside was dressed ready for a wedding. The sun shone and lunch in the pub at elterwater outside. Days like this and there is nowhere better on earth.

No dishwasher here, either - DH does it. I do always make a point of checking the crockery after he's washed it, though. He's a bit like his mother in that respect - not always very careful....

I run mine every two or three days. I family come its twice a day!

No dishwasher here, either. OH always says we don't need one, as there's only the two of us - but you should see the amount of washing-up if the family has been round.....

I have no dishwasher and no washing machine - just a spin drier. There is an excellent laundrette in the next village. As I live alone, it would take me a week to fill a dishwasher, even if I had room for one.

No Galen, no dishwasher, (only me!!) no room for one.
