I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!
Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....
Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.
I'm having a really bad arthritic flare up ( so much for damp weather affecting it!) and my right knee has come out in sympathy with the left. It hurts!
Not doing much! Trying not to use the still achy arms for anything much, so if it is the shoulder joint complaining I thought resting it might help, but I want to do some light gardening.
Increased Gabapentin helping a bit more but still no diagnosis. I have now stopped the Alendronic Acid as that has listed itself as having a "common side effect" of joint and muscle pain. pharmacist suggested try giving it up for at least 2/12 to see what happens. Very fed up with feeling helpless useless. I want to do things like clean the house but I can't wield a cleaning cloth with my feet.
Spent the afternoon with friends and their family. Son, daughter-in-law, grandchild and a student nephew. Lovely to be with all the different generations.
I've been at the CAB all day. It wasn't very busy which was fine with me because I had a shocking headache. I have told my manager that I won't be back after my holiday in France. So many changes are being made in benefits that I've given up trying to get my aching head round them. I also think the fluorescent lights contribute to the headaches. So two weeks today will be my last day of volunteering. I wonder what I can find to do with my Thursdays from now on!
Sympathy for the achers. It's rotten feeling you can't get on with stuff
Minibags has been unwell today. She came to me in tears late this morning because she said one of her eyes wasn't working properly, then she said she had a headache so I gave her some Calpol and suggested she lie down for a while (thinking "hope it's not migraine!), then she threw up – just liquid as she hadn't eaten anything since yesterday. She has been dozing on and off and was sick again, felt a bit better, then the headache came back. Blergh. Hope she feels better tomorrow.
Nonu, give me a chance to draw breath and then I'll have a think! Bags, I do hope Mini feels better soon. Is there something going round that she might have caught?
Commiserations to minibags and everyone else who is feeling below par. I walked for four hours, with a 15 minute break for a picnic sitting under a tree. I was facing North, walking along a ridge, so I could see Lake Geneva in a heat haze. It has been warm and sunny for at least a week so I have been able to get in a lot of walking before my sister arrives next Tuesday. She likes to take her time getting ready in the mornings, so I will probably take her breakfast in bed and leave her to have a bath and do her hair and make-up while I have an hour's walk.
Thanks, folks. She's better. Came down at half past seven and said she felt as she does on a good morning. Phew. She has eaten a biscuit and drunk some water. She does look a lot better. We watched a bit of The Life of Pi.
No rashes or neck stiffness, galen. The eye thing was that she said she had lost some peripheral vision in her left eye. What with the headache and the vomiting, I suspect migraine.
Well! As I typed those words the phone rang and it was galen. Thank you so much, galen. It was kind of you to call and I appreciate your checking about meningitis .
Glad to hear Mini's a lot better Bags. We never stop worrying about them, however old they are, and I suspect we never will. It seems to go with the territory of being Mother.
Thanks kitty. The other advisers were suitably distressed when I broke the news, but they'll get over it! I must remember to take a box of chocs when I go in two weeks today.
I don't know how you hung on as long as you did, anno. You deserve a well-earned rest from frying your brain with all those changes. I bet they'll miss you
This morning my husband exited the house to find a herring gull butchering one of my lovely pond fish (a beautiful ghost koi) on the patio - my son later scared a gull (probably the same one) out of the pond. I've grown all my fish from tiddlers and of course it was the biggest that was taken! Today (in addition to protecting my pond) I have been learning my alphabet, playing with cars, drawing (I'm rubbish), making blackcurrant jam, reading stories and listening to a million and one questions from my three year old grandson. Soon we'll make strawberry jam before going out for a walk to the allotment to pick yet more fruit to turn into jam. Two days of this and I'm genuinely tired out.
