Well, I'm sorry, but......... (I won't be the only grey haired granny!) (and,of course, I will only be there to take a picture of DD with him) smile

Don't embarrass yourself by stalking him at the stage door, Jingle grin

j08 Fri 24-May-13 13:14:32

Going to see him in The Tempest soon! smile smile smile

Oh!!! Thank you when! Thank you sooo much! DD2 will be here, so we can both squeal together. smile

Mrshat I so agree. Poldark was one of my all time favourites and I would love to see it again. I can still hear the way that Angahard Rees pronounced 'Rhosss'. They should save their money and just show the original. If they must remake then David Tennant for Ross please.

JINGLE!!! Merlin will be on TV on Tuesday morning. Just heard it announced he will be on This Morning on ITV. Enjoy smile

mrshat Mon 13-May-13 17:30:00

I just wish they would repeat Poldark and not bother remaking it - it just wont work without Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees sad

kittylester Mon 13-May-13 16:54:55

Sel Robin Ellis was exactly as I pictured Ross and I agree that the chemistry between him and Angharad Rees was fabulous.

I don't like to break it to the Archers' fans but David was in Stenders last week! He was also in something else but I've forgotten what it was shock

I used to love the Archers but, since they moved it - about 10 years ago - I can't listen so easily and then can't get back into it.

I never saw The Great Gatsby, but Robert Redford looks right to me somehow, so how good do you think Leo Di Caprio will be? I'm planning to go and see it next week. hmm

And close to 18st, with a 50" chest, what does Tom Cruise measure? Not enough, that`s what!

ninathenana Mon 13-May-13 11:56:42

DH was annoyed that they chose Tom Cruise to play Jack Reacher. In the books Reacher is 6 ft +

LullyDully Mon 13-May-13 10:47:13

I did find Titanic was just one too many telling of a similar story!! I do realise there are so many tales to tell about that day, but you can reach saturation point. I did like Kenneth Moore in Night to Remember.

Also 39 Steps can not be beaten by the Hitchcock version how ever many times they rehash it. I love the naughty bit when they take her stockings off whilst wearing handcuffs!!! hmm

PS hate to see photos of archers too, Ruth and David look nothing like my image of them.

grandimars Mon 13-May-13 10:40:42

Shysal, Colin Firth and Sean Connery are the ones for me too. I loved Poldark and don't want to see new actors, so may give it a miss. And as for the Archers, I hate seeing any of the actors in a visual role or a photo, all the characters are firmly pictured in my head.

Movedalot Mon 13-May-13 10:18:33

Oooooh, No Sel never look at the Archers! Why do people buy me books about them? I don't want my images damaged. Next week meeting friends for lunch at The Old Bull in Inkberrow which is supposed to be the village on which Ambridge is set.

Sel Mon 13-May-13 09:57:17

It's bizarre isn't it Moved? I also find the same thing with the radio - seeing the actors from The Archers for example - they just don't look right.

Actually, having read the Poldark books before the TV adaptation, Robin Ellis never fitted my mental picture of Ross although I do agree, Angharad Rees was just perfect.

Movedalot Mon 13-May-13 09:50:14

Slightly off post but isn't it the same as when you read the book and then see the play/film? The images are different to the ones in your head.

My all time favourite film is Whistle Down the Wind so I was rather upset to be given tickets to the stage show but it was actually really good. We then went again a few years later and it had been Americanised and I hated it.sad

merlotgran Mon 13-May-13 09:47:03

I agree with all of the above and I can't imagine anyone but Angharad Rees as Demelza. Wonderful chemistry.

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 09:40:10

I could only imagine david Suchet as Poirot .

truth be told I liked John Nettles much more in MID. then the current one.
Although I watched an old episode the other week and he played a character which was totally different to the role he plays now .

j08 Mon 13-May-13 09:28:37

Don't forget Colin Morgan! He is on the shortlist too. All the little fangirls have got their fingers tightly crossed for him. (Although he is being Ariel at the Globe until the end of August, so God knows when he'd film it.) hmm

as in Merlin

shysal Mon 13-May-13 09:21:48

I also hate seing different actors in any roll I previously loved. I was a Poldark fan, books and TV. Another example is Mr Darcy, who can only be Colin Firth in my eyes, and Sean Connery is the only James Bond for me.

ninathenana Mon 13-May-13 09:07:41

I know exactly what you mean. Although in this instance it doesn't bother me.

kittylester Mon 13-May-13 07:08:13

It rarely happens but Robin Ellis was exactly my image of Ross Poldark. Now someone is going to remake it and suggestions for the lead include Dan Stevens and Benedict Cumberbatch. shock
