My DD's second baby was due on 20th May, but I kept on saying it would be early. Tuesday is the day we have my GS and, usually, his mum brings him round to us. Needless to say this morning we were late (for us) waking up and when I switched on my mobile at 6.40 it immediately beeped with a message from DD to say that DGS had woken early, she wasn't sure if she was having pains, but either she or DSiL would bring Jacob round early. I texted back and suggested that, possibly, it wasn't a good idea for either of them to be gallivanting and we would drive over to pick him up.
When we got there at 7.30ish, DD was showered and dressed and sitting on the sofa with a tens machine on her stomach. Jacob was, unusually, watching the television and her DH was nowhere to be seen, but it turned out he was very thoughtfully typing out DD's birth plan which she had written last night.
I suppose we left just after eight - we left DD leaning against the hall walls, having a contraction, but still not sure if she was in labour. when we got home we had a busy morning as there was breakfast to do and neither DH nor I had had a shower this morning. I was just debating whether or not to text DD or DSil, when my phone beeped again (ten o'clock) and I was staggered to read that all was well and I had another granddaughter! So I am proud to announce the arrival of Jessica Annabelle, 8 lbs 6 oz, at 9.45 a.m. this morning.
I have since spoken to my son in law and he tells me that he persuaded my DD to go to hospital as the contractions were coming every two and a half minutes. They got there at nine and the midwives pronounced DD to be ready, my new GD was born about forty five minutes later.
I am so pleased and excited for them all; I have a fantastic relationship with my DD which is totally unlike my also lovely relationship with my DS and I am happy to think that she will have a special relationship with her new DD.
