What's your favourite/least favourite holiday destination?

PS, I wouldn`t be paid to holiday in Blackpool, but it`s a great place for a day trip.

I`m not widely travelled, been to quite a bit of the UK. but foreign places only amount to Cyprus,(twice) Turkey,(3 times) Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Florida, not counting a day trip to Boulogne. I can quite honestly say that I`ve enjoyed every one of our holidays, despite various setbacks, but would very willingly go back to Scotland time and time again, particularly the west coast, and even more particularly, Kintyre, heaven on earth!

Western Highlands, between Arisaig and Mallaig. Tobermory and the rest of the Isle of Mull. Sea, islands and mountains - my prescription for heaven. Provence for the climate, the wine and lovely villages. The Alps for glorious scenery. The Bay of Islands in New Zealand's North Island for all of the above.

I love the U.S.A. ...just hate getting into the ruddy country. You can be a grey haired middle aged granny with a Saga holiday booking and they still treat you as if you are going to do something dreadfull!

soop I don't know if I was one of your customers. I have been visiting Fowey and Polruan for forty years, and must have been in every shop during that time, so possibly?

I'm enjoying all these reminders of lovely places in the UK - Fowey, Aldburgh, Hampshire Downs, etc. We're so lucky to have such variety - and relatively close.

Troodos Mountain villages - Cyprus, South Hams - Devon, Former home in the Test Valley - North Hampshire Downs; Peace, quiet and tranquility!

I used to love Blackpool and Southend and all the "tat". When I was young and not at all well travelled, walking along Southend's crowded seafront licking a Rossi's multi-flavoured ice cream, the smell of hot dogs and candyfloss in the air, or visiting the fair at the Kursal with its pounding music and the sound of motorbikes on the "wall of death", all seemed very exciting.

I still quite like Southend for a nostalgic day out (a nice walk on the pier, taking the little train back - alas the Kursal is no more) but Blackpool no longer holds any allure for me.

Favourite holiday destination ... Provence. No thank you to camping, caravans or any beach resort that has tat and fairgrounds.

when When we lived at Polscoe, I used to manage a wee shop...The Romantic Englishwoman situated in the main street in Fowey, close to the harbour. Were you ever a customer of mine?

Can't stand Blackpool and all the concrete and hot dog smells.

Love San Francisco and San Diego, with the most amazing scenery and friendly people.

The nearest place for a perfect holiday, for me, is Fowey in Cornwall. So many little coves, fantastic views across the harbour, pootling around in boats, nipping on and off the ferries, tales of smugglers, Daphne Du Maurier country, fish and chips on the harbour front, and those Cornish teas and pasties

I would love a holiday anywhere in the remote highlands or on the peaceful islands of bonnie Scotland.

Don't ask me to spend even a nanosecond on a crowded beach abroad or treking around Blackpool or Newquay.

Each to his/her own.

I've just remembered a horrendous holiday in Bulgaria. There were seats missing on the outward flight (Balkan Air) and the toilets weren't working. Ditto the return flight but by then we were past caring.

The hotel smelt of sewage and the "breakfast" was totally dry and hard chunks of bread and greasy processed meats and cheeses. The staff were extremely unpleasant and seemed to almost hate the guests. Loud music from nearby discos pounded on and on till about 4 a.m., leaving us bleary-eyed and exhausted. My son and I both got some horrible bug, as did most of the other guests. My husband and those that were not taken ill had not used the hotel pool, so we put it down to it not being properly cleaned.

Having said that, the beaches, countryside and mountains were lovely and the entertainment in various bars and restaurants was excellent - not the usual amateurish offerings that holidaymakers are often presented with. I'd decided I didn't like the people, but when we went to a restaurant and I found I'd lost my purse, the taxi driver, who'd found it on the back seat, returned it to me later in the evening. That reminded me I should not judge the whole population by the actions of a few surly (and probably underpaid and overworked) hotel employees.

It was just such a shame that our experience has put us off holidaying there again but maybe it was our own fault for picking a really "cheapie" holiday.

Paris in the rain!

My worst holiday has got to be Zante in Greece the most unfriendly place I have ever stayed,at a local shop the price of the daily bread etc was dictated I think by the mood of the very miserable owner.

Favourite - Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Going there after breakfast for a few days

Least favourite - anywhere that involves self-catering or camping! Been there, done that, not doing it again!!!

I have had holidays in a number ofwonderful places. Please, please don't send me back to Corfu !

I love the Outer Hebrides . The islands are so tranquil, the scenery is breath-taking and the natives are very friendly !!

I am not too keen on capital cities. They are generally crowded, queuing for things takes far too long and I prefer natural beauty to man-made.

Bora bora is perfection .i have had some truly dreadful holidays ,endurance rather than enjoyment. They include anywhere in Greece,Pescara in Italy ,arras which I consider to be the armpit of Europe and there are an astonishing number of places in France called Neuchateau or Neufchâtel which are dreadful.
