Good morning everyone, weather not made up its mind yet! Off for a hearing test later, think my hearing aid is past its best before date, or perhaps that's me! Enjoy your day(s).

Good morning all. Just been up and out of bed to make a brew and collect my laptop.Ime becoming addicted to the thing these days; but isnt it wonderful? I have a husband who is not at all talkative, although he is very nice, and after 30 years I have given up with general conversation! So, now I have found other ways of expressing myself, and the computer has opened up new paths.Wont be doing any gardening today; Ime going out for lunch with three of my friends (who Ive met since I retired and joined all the various activities on offer!) Aint life grand!

annodomini Tue 21-May-13 09:06:26

As sook says - dreary in Cheshire. I felt no incentive to get out of my comfy bed this morning. But I have. hmm

Ella46 Tue 21-May-13 09:35:02

FED UP with this dreary weather.
Got to search for a garage to repair a leak on my car after getting an astronomical quote from the dealer yesterday!
Easier said than done, small garages seem to be disappearing in this area. hmm

Happy days! Just popped in to the exhaust repair place because I thought a broken bracket was making my exhaust pipe rattle. 'No' said the pleasant mechanic, 'you're exhaust system is like brand new.' Great, picked up my bag ready to leave, when he produced the fractured suspension coil that had been clattering its way down to the bottom. 'We can fix it today, just need to get the parts delivered and we'll have you back on the road.' How can twirly pieces of metal cost £357?!

At least it was a nice walk home grin

whenim64 Tue 21-May-13 10:03:21

Pedants - I meant your grin

Early good afternoon. Have been ironing all morning. It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining brightly in bonnie Kintyre.

Pottering round at home, awaiting the phone call to say my car is ready. 2 pm prompt and the job's done. Did I know how badly worn my rear tyres are? Well, I was told to think about replacing them in the summer after the MOT, so no, that's not a big surprise, although the extra £200 on top is!

I hate cars!

Ella46 Tue 21-May-13 16:08:42

when Me too!
My dealer yesterday told me that my wheels needed realigning-cost £60.17!! shock
Took car to my local tyre place, and they put it on ramps and lo and behold......nothing wrong with the alignment and it would have only cost £25 anyway! angry

Started off dull this morning, then the sun came out, but dull again now, not cold though.
Soop, I wish I`d known that you had the iron out, there`s some here that needs doing grin

Ella aren't they such chancers? I thought I would have to fork out £50 or so this morning, when I thought it was ujst a loose fitting, but ended up with a bill of nearly £600 because I didn't have time to shop around before needing to do a lot of motorway driving with children on board. I probably could have got it down by another £100 or so.

I just looked at my bill and see that my 3 year guarantee for the suspension coils has cost me £15 plus 20% VAT! Shouldn't a guarantee stand whether or not you pay for it? Cheeky blighters!

Attacked the bank balance via John Lewis today. New carpet and bed for guest room. DGCs here in the summer so stocked up on socks ,undies and nightwear. So very tempted by pretty dresses for only DGD but by August the season will be over and with any luck her mother might have done some shopping.

Oldgreymare Tue 21-May-13 22:07:01

I always ask (re car repairs):
'Is that the best you can do?'
Got £29 off today, it pays to ask (Don't know whether to thank Dom or MSE!)
