Due to roadworks the inner lanes of the Aston Expressway were closed last night and there was a 40mph speed limit on the outer lane.
I was driving at 40 mph in the outer lane and 3 cars overtook me on the left.
I don't think they got to their destination any quicker as all 3 were stopped by the police further down the road.
Don't people realise lanes are closed and speed limits apply for a reason?.

]. Given the number of lorries on the motorways these days it's often difficult to be in the inside lane and I always try to be in the middle lane appraching a slip road. But there's nothing to stop the police fining people for being on a phone whilst driving; not only is it obvious but they would be able to prove that the phone was being used at that time. There's a small road island near where I live where all the local people stay in the outside lane [although technically we should move to the inside lane] but it's much safer staying in the lane you're on as traffic is approaching it very fast having just pulled off the motorway. Sometimes a bit of common sense is needed.
