For anybody who enjoys musical theatre but can't make the trip to London or afford Manchester prices there are lots of shows coming to Blackpool in the next few months. Between now and October Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Joseph, Blood Brothers, Soul Sister and Save the last Dance are all on at the Winter Gardens. In addition there are concerts by Susan Boyle, Jane McDonald and Elvis Costello plus lots of comedians and dance events. Lots of cheap accommodation too! smile

seaside I can fly the same flag for Malvern! We get great shows, plays and music in our 2 theatres and last week were invited to an end of the run after party! No idea if accommodation is cheap but we have spare bedrooms!

Two of my DSs love BD and when I listen to Desert Island Discs it is amazing how many celebs like him too. One DS was lucky to get tickets to see him in the USA recently when he had to go there for 5 days to work. He wouldn't agree that BD is 'hit and miss'

I would have agreed that BD is mostly miss... never could stand him! But that's just me... For some reason he is massively popular. I feel the same about Leonard Cohen. Just can't hear the attraction.

MY OH loves Bob Dylan. He has obviously written some fantastic songs (in my opinion !). Mr Tambourine Man, Lay Lady Lay, Blowin in the Wind, The Times they are a Changing to name but a few. But I would rather hear other people singing them, I can't stand his monotonous voice. OH went to see him once and said he was brilliant but there was absolutely no interaction with the audience.

He can paint too.

Oh yes I forgot that. They have an exhibition of his paintings on at the moment in Birmingham City Centre. Impressive.

Where katy? DS lives in Brum and would love it.

Moved - It is in the International Convention Centre Complex (where Symphony Hall is). I'm not sure what the gallery is called - Castle Gallery
rings a bell. If you go in through the main doors of the ICC from Centenary Square where the Birmingham Rep is, walk past Symphony Hall and as you go down the steps towards the canal area, the gallery is to your left. The Dylan exhibition was on last week and they seem to have it there from time to time but it may be best to check that it is still on before making a special journey.

It is only a smallish gallery - shop style
