Drunk man in pub tonight.

I usually manage to keep up with a thread but admit I'm confused about this one.

Was there really a drunk in the pub HUNTERF or is it a joke linked to the video.

Incidentally I watched the video and the whole time was on edge because I was expecting the car to crash. In fact, at one point I wondered if it was one of those things put out to warn people about the dangers of drinking and driving, you know, happy scene which suddenly and shockingly ends in disaster.

You must go to a more gentile kind of place. Plus of course it would be more suitable for Andie . just guessing he was with you ?

It is not uncommon for people to wax sentimental about their home town once they have left it behind - such as The Beatles!
I loathed my home town of Salford when I lived there as a child . There have been improvements - the old warehouses have been turned into loft apartments and the Irwell now has fish in it. There is The Lowry Centre and the lovely houses on The Crescent have been sand blasted back to their original cream colour. But I don't blame the TV staff from London who were reluctant to relocate. It is no longer 'Smokey Old Town' but I still dislike it.

I have never been in to that pub and seen anybody drunk before but I do not tend to go late in the evening.

I just thought as he was singing ''I belong to Glasgow'' I thought that is where he should be.

I heard a few more drunks singing this when I was in London. In fact one came in to the bank where I worked wanting to borrow £1,000,000.
We did not even have a bank counter in that building as we did not deal with domestic banking there.
As he was later getting abusive security phoned the police.

He was throwing drink all over the place which I was told he bought in and grabbing hold of people and then trying to upset tables. He was also swearing at times.
To be honest I think there is a high risk that he may have been arrested later.
I pity the police however.
Probably he should have been sent to Glasgow as their police are probably better at dealing with drunks.
When I was walking Andie this morning I was told by somebody the pub I was in refused to serve him.

At least I do not go out getting drunk.
I have got better use for my money.
Andie, my 2 daughters and 4 granddaughters.
This has reminded me.
I must buy Andie some food next time I go to the supermarket.
He has only got a weeks supply left and he is probably starting to worry.

He has probably not been near Glasgow since he left thirty years ago. Glasgow expats are very sentimental about the dear green place but they would not dream of actually returning and working there.

One verse/version of the song goes:-

"I'm only a common old working lad, as anyone here can tell,
but when I get a couple of drinks on a Saturday,
Glasgow can go to h**l."

He may have been one of the almost extinct tribe of haggis hunterSF?

Probably a Weatherspoons would have been better and a lot cheaper.
The main thing was the staff did eject him.
Probably he should have been posted to Glasgow.
