She has wonderful legs but I wish Kate Middleton (aka Duchess of Cambridge) would wear longer skirts and lower heels just now.

I don't care what Kate wears. I just object to the so called royal family scrounging money off me.

I thought that might be the case Galen.

She's pretty and all that Kate, but what has she really achieved in her young life? Has she ever had a proper job and seen it thru? Now... she looks good, smiles a lot and shakes hands....I really wish she was a role model but is she just a trophy wife?

I suspect they are checking or operating on ca prostate?

Just seen Charles coming away from visiting him on the news. He seemed very cheerful. Said his dad was much better. smile

I wonder if Prince Phillip will be well enough to see it? They're very tight lipped about what's wrong with him. Trooping the Colour tomorrow without him....A pattern is emerging. sad

I heard on the telly yesterday that the Duchess will spend the six weeks directly after the birth at her mum and dad's home in Bucklebury (bless). I wonder if the Queen will be popping over every now and then to get her share of hands-on with the new baby.

I think the Duchess of Cambridge is always appropriately dressed, sometimes skirts are just a teeny bit too short, but she generally looks smart and elegant.
She's a credit to her parents and William must be very proud of her too.

nanaej Fri 14-Jun-13 14:48:50

I am short and even when young and slim 'elegant' was not a word used to describe me!
When I was pregnant I had two pairs of cord trousers with an elasticated pouch at the front that expanded with me and a variety of cheesecloth tops and smock tops that I made to wear over the bumps! I had two maternity dresses, a posher and pretty 'going out' dress with a dropped waist & a brown pinafore dress from Mothercare which I wore with hooped tights. That was it! I had quite big babies and had huge bumps..I must have looked a terrible sight! Lucky DoC to have haute couture & long legs!

annodomini Fri 14-Jun-13 14:15:47

It isn't short at all by most current standards. I envy her freedom (and bank balance) to wear attractive, well designed outfits at this stage of a pregnancy. I'm pretty sure that in 1970-71 the maternity clothes I wore were about that length, though not by any means as elegant.

janthea Fri 14-Jun-13 13:51:01

I think she looks very elegant. Her outfit is not too short and, as other have said, she has great legs!!

Movedalot Fri 14-Jun-13 13:45:37

Poor thing, I am sure whatever she wears someone won't like it.

I had good legs and mini-dresses were in fashion when I was expecting DS1 so I wore them but they were tents! I'm glad the fashion has changed and there is no need to hide the fact that you are pregnant.

DH still thinks I have good legs so I can only assume love really is blind!

HildaW Fri 14-Jun-13 13:13:57

Thankfully, fashions have changed since Diana was pregnant, back then it was more common to wear maternity wear from quite early on. The dreaded Mothercare type pinafores etc. Nowadays girls can just go up a size of their normal fashions or even just adapt it they don't get huge ( I did- so tents were de rigour).
Mind you not sure why we feel the need to criticise someone who appears to present a very smart and professional public persona. She seems to be carrying herself with a certain calm dignity and genuine enthusiasm for a very tricky and public life.

Deedaa Thu 13-Jun-13 23:26:43

At least she's managed to avoid the dreadful frilly tents that Diana used to wear when she was pregnant.

Aka Thu 13-Jun-13 23:00:17

I have to agree with Butty I saw nothing wrong with her outfit and I thought she looked the picture of health.

Notso Thu 13-Jun-13 22:44:13

That piece on jingles link all took place just across the water from me at Southampton...the Duchess was naming a new cruise liner. I've just been woken by the mother and father of all firework displays, I imagine it's all part of the naming celebrations. Fortunately, I like fireworks smile

Ana Thu 13-Jun-13 22:29:24

No, that one's fine. She has worn shorter ones, though.

j08 Thu 13-Jun-13 22:26:11

it's not that short!

She's got good knees.

mollie Thu 13-Jun-13 21:43:06

I've always thought that she has dressed quite safely. She appeared to walk the elegant line without attracting criticism. Clever girl - remember Fergie? And so I expected more of the same through this pregnancy, a relief from the Rooneys and the Kardashions(?). But as the bump has grown the hems appeared shorter ... at least she has gorgeous legs and doesn't appear to have been eating for two...lucky girl!

nightowl Thu 13-Jun-13 21:09:13

Just to make it clear I don't like her current style, but it has nothing to do with the fact she is pregnant. As I said, I don't suppose she'll lose any sleep over my views. I prefer the way my daughter dresses (on a much lower budget).

Notso Thu 13-Jun-13 21:02:51

If at any point in my life I'd ever had legs even approaching that good, I think I would have just gone out wearing knickers grin

annodomini Thu 13-Jun-13 20:47:04

I cannot for the life of me understand why a pregnant woman shouldn't wear skirts just the same length as she wears when not pregnant, unless, of course, she gets so fat that she looks ridiculous (as I would have) but Kate still has the same elegant legs as always. If you've got them, flaunt them, I say.

nightowl Thu 13-Jun-13 20:34:52

I feel like an old sourpuss but I do agree. I don't like the short skirts (which seem to be getting shorter) and I think they look oddly unbalanced with such high heels (which seem to be getting higher). This is not how she used to dress when she was single and I'm not sure why her image has changed so much. It's not exactly a royal look so I don't know what's behind it. Her business I suppose, but I don't find it an attractive look. Then again, I don't suppose she's dressing to impress me anyway.

Butty Thu 13-Jun-13 20:24:03

Kate is a young, happily pregnant young woman. I wish her well.

Tegan Thu 13-Jun-13 18:57:25

She'll be in the paper in the next week or so wearing [I would imagine] more killer heels albeit not in an official capacity...
