Can I be the first to predict the name? I think they will go with traditional.
Alice for a girl.
George for a boy.

Ana Tue 09-Jul-13 22:08:05

I don't think that's going to be a real possibility! grin

costalminder Tue 09-Jul-13 21:44:04

How about Diana?

Yofab Tue 09-Jul-13 21:15:06

What about Victoria for a girl - a bit old fashioned - but nice. I quite like Arthur for a boy - it conjours up visions of Camelot! One thing is sure the name will be traditional

Alice was the name of Prince Philip's mother, Princess Alice of Battenburg. It was also my late mother-in-law's name, she reckoned her father named her after his favourite barmaid.MIL was born on Edward VII's coronation day, and her father was celebrating the coronation in the pub when he got the news of her birth which was given to him by Alice the barmaid. That's my only connection with royalty!.
I have always liked the name Elizabeth and would have given that to my daughter but just had two sons.
I have a grandaughter called Charlotte, a lovely name.Somehow I dont think it will be used though. The last princess with that name was the Prince Regent's daughter and she died in childbirth.

What about Maelona which is welsh for princess.

I have a friend Elisabeth, and that is the reason I automatically spell it that way: I'm not bothered really which spelling is used, s or z. It is like Anne and Ann.

Whatever the spelling, I think it is a likely candidate.

TerriS Sat 06-Jul-13 07:42:09

This in reply to Joan's comments btw.

TerriS Sat 06-Jul-13 07:39:30

Hahaha! Wow! But made up names? The spelling is tradionally "Elizabeth" with a "z". But if you to tinker around, I suppose Elisabeth would do it, but not keen myself....

Phillipa of Hainult was without question one of England's most popular and capable queens. However, I had forgotten the Middleton sister.

merlotgran Fri 05-Jul-13 20:04:53

Princess Pippa? Even worse.

Ana Fri 05-Jul-13 20:02:19

Queen Phillipa? Nooo...

absent Fri 05-Jul-13 19:41:21

Eleanor or even Elinore or Phillipa might be nice.

Gagagran Fri 05-Jul-13 19:25:52

or even named!

Gagagran Fri 05-Jul-13 19:25:09

What about Katherine? There have been a few Queen Katherines and Kate is namled Katherine Elizabeth.

gracesmum Fri 05-Jul-13 18:48:56

The name has - but (in our case, I am not so sure about its owner. She was investigating a very dead starling this afternoon. Put it down!! Bad dog!!") But Princess Grace certainly sounded good in the days of Grace Kelly

Ana Fri 05-Jul-13 18:40:23

Actually, gracesmum, I think the name Grace has a quiet dignity...

gracesmum Fri 05-Jul-13 18:30:45

If it's likely that Kate's side of the family will be included, how about uncle Gary? Or Dolly (as in trolley)? Maybe not.

MargaretX Fri 05-Jul-13 14:56:44

I'm all for Margaret! there have been more queens called Margaret than any other name, followed by Elizabeth. I think Alexandra is nice and George for a boy.

2old4hotpants Fri 05-Jul-13 13:13:59

The living next door song - I can just imagine the tabloid headlines *

ginny Fri 05-Jul-13 09:30:06

I not bothered what they call him her. A name is just a name chosen by the parents. It has no baring on what sort of person the child becomes.

absent Fri 05-Jul-13 09:26:42

2old4hotpants* Is that the living next door song or the changing guards at Buckingham Palace song?

2old4hotpants Fri 05-Jul-13 08:29:23

I love the name Alice, but unfortunately it has been ruined by that dreadful song, so don't think they will choose it as a first name

Bags Fri 05-Jul-13 08:16:49

I really hope Kate and Wills will surprise us all. But they won't.

There has been a couple of Queen Carolines (Ansbach and Brunswick) - neither of them especially memorable and both consorts rather than reigning monarchs.
