Age is no barrier - why not apply as Ann Pascoe did last year. Soon after she retired to rural Scotland a few years ago, she found herself caring for a husband who refused to recognise he was suffering from dementia. Feeling very isolated, she decided to do something about it & successfully applied for a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship to study the subject further. As a result she has had a major impact by creating a dementia friendly community in her local area & spreading the concept elsewhere.
If you have an idea or subject you wish to study, applications for a variety of categories are now open for 2014. One category is "Arts & Older People/Creative Ageing" & others cover science, the arts & social issues. Once a Fellow you are always a Fellow & part of a wider community - I've been one since 1992.
