Good morning everyone, woken early this am by the rumble of thunder and flash's of lightening pouring with rain now but it saves me watering the pots and the garden will green up a wee bit.

Cooler here, thank goodness, and rain forecast, badly needed for the garden, trouble is if it starts, will it know when to stop? Up really early (for us) my husband had a doctors appointment for 7.50, so he was up and running(?) 6.30 shock. Not sure why. Enjoy your days everyone

Woken at 4 by seagulls and thunder! Much cooler night here somehow, I had my duvet on.

Sook Tue 23-Jul-13 08:28:09

Good morning everyone. Woke around 5:30am to the rumble of thunder. I thought we might have a cracker of a storm, but it blew over fairly quickly. Very dark here now and raining at the moment, with the odd flash of lightning and a little rumble now and then. I love a good storm.

Drive carefully the roads will be very slippery.

Fabulous storm in the night and really really dark here now.

Thunder and impressive lightning at 6am. It dawned on me that I'd left the car sunroof open so I leapt out of bed and braved the first huge drops of rain to save the car from being flooded. There was a picture on TV just now of a lightning bolt hitting Piccadilly Station in Manchester and reports of serious delays to services.

Cooler here thank goodness! A bit of thunder last night and now it seems we are to expect a "Noah's Ark" type deluge! Hope it brings back a bit of greenery and doesn't go on too long a steady 70 degrees through August would be nice.

annodomini Tue 23-Jul-13 09:08:14

A striking picture:
direct hit on Piccadilly Station

Impressive anno. I got up to watch the thunderstorm and it was worth the effort. Some fabulous lightning strikes and rolls of loud thunder. That's my planned gardening up the creek this morning!

Gally Tue 23-Jul-13 09:33:36

Just been skyping DD1 in Gloucestershire and the thunder and rain was so loud we had to discontinue the conversation shock. It looks like we may get more rain here in Fife but, like yesterday, it's quite cool - I can hear the odd rumble approaching as I 'speak' (no I don't mean Frank! grin)

Quite a few metro trams are also out of commission today due to lightening strikes on signalling equipment. I must admit I love dramatic weather, although obviously not the disruption and damage it can cause.

Elegran Tue 23-Jul-13 09:46:09

The storm has just struck here and is moving towards you even as I type, Gally seems to be moveing on fairly fast though.

Elegran Tue 23-Jul-13 09:46:55

Added an extra e there. Typing fast to beat storm.

Gally Tue 23-Jul-13 09:52:01

It's arrived Elegran

Ella46 Tue 23-Jul-13 09:52:34

After the storm in the early morning, it's still raining heavily here, and I'd forgotton that my roof leaks! shock

Expect to see a growth spurt in the gardens smile

AlieOxon Tue 23-Jul-13 09:59:44

So far we have had here in Oxfordshire - just enough rain to wet the paths.

At present dull, muggy. I really want NOT to have to water today!
Wonderful pic anno.

Ariadne Tue 23-Jul-13 10:27:05

No rain in North Devon yet - now there's a miracle! But it is very overcast and humid. DGD1 is on a spinnaker course, but I wonder if there will be enough wind today.

Theseus is out on his bke, pounding out the miles - 30 or so at a time! Not bad, eh?

Anne58 Tue 23-Jul-13 11:16:30

God to hear the new hip is working well!

Anne58 Tue 23-Jul-13 11:35:54

Oooh, I think a storm maybe brewing! Better walk round to the shop before it starts!

harrigran Tue 23-Jul-13 11:48:34

That is a spectacular picture anno, reminds me of the Tyne bridge strike last year.

Stansgran Tue 23-Jul-13 11:57:28

Thunder earlier in Durham but suns out with my washing

soop Tue 23-Jul-13 14:05:33

A very muggy day in bonnie Kintyre. A rumbling of thunder and flashes of sheet lightning at breakfast time. Sun is doing it's best to burn through. People who intended viewing our home today have postponed until tomorrow.

I slept through the thunder and lightening, but woke at just before 5am to lashing rain, so as I had the window wide open, I got up to close it. Turned into a hot, sunny day, but more rain and thunder and lightening a couple of hours ago.
