This has come as a great surprise.
The wider family in blood relative terms consists of about 250 people and by far the majority are now female.
The last boy was born in 1957 nearly 56 years ago.
Another was born in 1953 ( I think ) definitely a year either side and I am the 3rd youngest born in 1949.
I know the male in effect decides the sex of the baby but even my doctor wonders if there is something in the women stopping boys being born although this is not proven medical fact.
He is not a Hunter and I am not sure what relative he is to me as he is distant.
I have no doubt I will meet him in the near future and I will find out his official relationship to me.

That must be statistically odd as the many girls are presumable marrying a number of men from different genetic roots. There might be something about the women in the family not conceiving boys.
You might just be onto something there Frank.

Is it like Whenim having a lot of twins in her family. Some genetic tendency.

Statistically it is possible even without any genetic tendency to reject boy sperm before they are in the running. It is just that it is at one end of the possibilities, and would not happen to very many people.

Frank, you know what they say about 'a little going a long way', well maybe that's how the women in your family feel about the males wink

Nellie no genetic tendency for twins in my family, believe it or not! Just one set of fraternal twins who have both had IVF and had two eggs implanted.

Just the opposite in SiL family. They were hoping DD would give them the first girl for 4 generations but no smile
Grandad 4 brothers, dad 3 brothers, SiL 1 brother and 2 sons.

My ex H had fraternal twins running rampant in his family, but apparently it is passed down the female line as the ability to ovalute 2 eggs per cycle

My friend thought like me she had started 'the change' , and developed a tummy bug on her honeymoon - but voila, fraternal twins when she was 49...........

Identical twins are a fluke, but strangely I know one had that had some herself !
