I just finished off the last one, so here we go again!

Today we went to a garden centre and bought a beautiful blue hydrangea as a present for friends we are going to visit tomorrow - it is their 42nd anniversary.
Early this evening a friend was here having a coffee, her DH is away with the cricket team tonight, so DH said he would take all of us to a local hostelry for a meal. Just as we were sitting there more neighbours arrived to celebrate their 39th anniversary - so we all sat together and had a truly wonderful evening - no language problems although at times some translating needed to be done. Our male neighbour has Parkinson's and so they do not get out much but with three extra people there was no problem manoeuvring him and he in particular enjoyed the extra company - so much so that when DH was going to go and pay the bill our neighbour insisted he paid as he had enjoyed himself so much. Entente cordial still working in Dordogne!! wine

It was envious - it maybe didn't help me do the ironing as I had to join in so much. grin

Enviousamerican Sat 31-Aug-13 19:31:09

No....just lazy! grin Thanks for the concern BTW.

Today we went to a garden party in a Rotary friend's huge and beautiful garden - afternoon tea in all its glory, complete with scones and clotted cream. All in aid of HomeStart East Devon and some other charities. Lots of friends and chat, then home via the scenic route.

No supper tonight, I think!

Now to think about the Water Festival tomorrow afternoon - more fundraising but by the water this time. Final event is RNLI lifeboats and the rescue helicopters staging a rescue -if they're not called out to a real one, that is. Hope not for the best of reasons!

Phew! smile

Hope you are not unwell, envious??

Enviousamerican Sat 31-Aug-13 18:28:20

kittylester Sat 31-Aug-13 17:58:51

Nonu - ugh!!!

I finished the ironing - it took 3 hours, several trips to GN, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton and Meatloaf to help me through it. grin

Now, Nigella's pork chop, fried potatoes, salad and winewinewine.

Ariadne Sat 31-Aug-13 06:59:00

Hello there, Flower Good to see you again! Welcome to Tova, and congratulations to all. flowers

Flowerofthewest Fri 30-Aug-13 23:22:34

It is also Hebrew as has been stated

Flowerofthewest Fri 30-Aug-13 23:22:17

Yes Tova is the female version of Thor. The couple chose it months ago but never told anyone. A terrific clap of thunder woke my daughter up in the early hours of 23rd July and she started labour. A well chosen name.
Tova Hero, her brother is Otto Danger

Gorki Fri 30-Aug-13 21:48:50

I love that one. There are some really pretty names around at the moment especially the older ones that are coming back into fashion.

Galen Fri 30-Aug-13 21:33:25

Patents? Parents!

Galen Fri 30-Aug-13 21:33:07

My new great niece is called Ezri which is apparently Hebrew for helper.
Hopeful patents I think!

Gorki Fri 30-Aug-13 21:14:29

Apparently it is also Hebrew for "good girl".

Penstemmon Fri 30-Aug-13 21:08:34

Is Tova the female version of Thor?

Congratulations Flower, and what a beautiful name.
Unfortunately OGM, there`ll be plenty of fetching and carrying, there`s nobody else to do it! Hubby doing OK, district nurse came today to take out his staples, but has left a couple till Monday. She was really lovely, gave him a blow up li-lo type thing to put on the mattress to prevent a sore bum, likewise a cushion for his chair.

Sook Fri 30-Aug-13 21:01:18

Happy birthday to all the Virgos' celebrating their birthdays within the next few days.
