I just finished off the last one, so here we go again!

Ariadne Wed 07-Aug-13 09:15:55

DH went off to the North Devon Show at 6.00, quietly (not) - his Rotary Club helped set up on Monday in the pouring rain, and today will be around helping and then dismantle things.

DD and family are very involved in sailing this month - Cadets week, training levels etc. DG is now instructing (don't know where her bossy tendencies come from...) DGS has passed a level and is now helping out, DD is feeding the hordes and DSiL tears about on the rescue boat. High tide is late now so what nicer than to sit and watch the boats as the sun sets, with a glass of something chilled..

Great start to the day - three year old had his first dry night!! We always lifted ours and took them to the loo just before we went to bed, so I did the same with grandson last night and bingo! grin As expected he's been as good as gold and I'm sure we'll have a lovely (though tiring) day.

Look after yourself JessM and best wishes for the future flowers.

Today I am having coffee with a friend then plan to sort out my treasurer's report for WI. I am coming off the committee in October grin

JessM Wed 07-Aug-13 08:16:58

Feeling exhausted today after finally moving out of the house yesterday. Collapsed in friend's house as I have a few more things to do before leaving for N Wales. Not really fit for any of them, but duty calls so I'd better get the coffee on.
Good luck with the three year old grannyactivist - or more specifically with the coaching of parent.

I wonder whether Ginny was hovering on a broomstick or all by herself!

Ariadne - result! wine

I travelled back from my other home where I have been sorting out cupboards and getting rid of all the things I have been meaning to do for ages. We are selling the property because we don't get the time to stay there now that GC take up a lot of our time.

Galen Tue 06-Aug-13 22:27:43

Like the hovering. We quite often see people who say they can only walk 5 metres in 20 minutes. We think they 'hover' between each step.

grannyactivist Tue 06-Aug-13 22:12:59

Today I've been doing 'meet & greet' at an art exhibition in our local prayer room. Lots of lovely people to chat to and the opportunity to listen to a couple of folks who just needed a supportive ear. Brilliant.
Got home to a telephone call from daughter to say she's at the end of her tether with her three year old and could I please give her some advice on how to deal with him. The advice was to put him in the car and bring him to me for a few days so that she can get some respite and have time for her six month old. I don't put up with any nonsense so he'll be as good as gold for me, but next week I plan to give his mummy some lessons in showing him who's boss. He's actually quite delightful mostly and has beautiful manners, but he's a bit like the girl with the curl for his mother - when he's good he's very good, but when he's bad he's horrid! grin

Houseworky day for me too today. I kept looking at the windows and thinking I really should clean those - never did. Tomorrow (maybe).

LizG Tue 06-Aug-13 21:37:27

Oh goodness, today I can't remember what I did all day but I think housework came into it somewhere.

bikergran Tue 06-Aug-13 21:28:30

Grannyeggs that made me laugh lol good for her...smile

Ana Tue 06-Aug-13 21:23:05

I love hovering...! smile

ginny Tue 06-Aug-13 21:14:18

I've been rescuing a friend whose car broke down and then enjoyed a latte with her. Lunching with two other friends. Arranging a trip with another friend and a day out with DD2. All in all a nice day. Oh , I did do some ironing and hovering.smile

Galen Tue 06-Aug-13 20:30:46

Dealing with people with depression all day! I'm sure it's catchingsad

Ariadne Tue 06-Aug-13 20:04:48

Nice little gift this evening - moping around not wanting to go to a meeting, not wanting to let people down and getting more and more fed up. Opened laptop to check minutes of last meeting, and there isn't one tonight at all! grin wine

PRINTMISS Tue 06-Aug-13 16:39:57

I have done a great deal of not very much today, it started out really well with good intentions, and went gradually down-hill immediately after breakfast, ah well! it's another day tomorrow - why am I always saying that recently?

Stansgran Tue 06-Aug-13 14:16:45

Catching flies or being cringing ly nice to important people

Galen Tue 06-Aug-13 12:01:34

Sounds as though she should be on GNgrin

Grannyeggs Tue 06-Aug-13 11:19:26

Yes, she is amazing, very opinionated and tough!

Ariadne Tue 06-Aug-13 11:16:41

Grannyeggs how heartening that is!

Grannyeggs Tue 06-Aug-13 10:01:49

Today I am taking lunch to my 84 year old Step-Mother, who was dying most of last year, she has two kinds of cancer and serious heart disease. She was in a home until a few months ago until she rose from the grave like Lazerus, announced she didn't want to be with boring old people, and is now living on her own down the road from me in a flat in Putney.[Smile]

Oldgreymare Tue 06-Aug-13 09:47:25

Not the start of something else Ariadne, I had a similar pain in one knee a few days before Scarlet Fever hit! I do wonder whether there was a link or whether it was merely a coincidence hmm
Hope you feel better soon......
Today I will be very busy, it will take my mind off the fact that my family have returned whence they came sad but shattered!

kittylester Tue 06-Aug-13 09:32:48

Love the new heading Ariadne but sorry about your pain and hope you get a resolution quickly. flowers

Keep on with those exercises Printmiss sunshine

Anne58 Tue 06-Aug-13 09:32:17

"Toadyl" sounds like some sort of tonic for amphibians that are under the weather.

Anne58 Tue 06-Aug-13 09:31:17

I did wonder, Araidne ......... grin

Today I will be chasing up a really useless recruiter who has failed to respond to 3 messages.
