I just finished off the last one, so here we go again!

I used to take a razor blade to my hair when I was a student. Scruffy doesn't begin to describe the result. And I managed to retain both ears and all my fingers. grin

Had a leisurely breakfast with the friends we had stayed overnight with. looked at their holiday photos before coming home.
This afternoon went over to DD2 as she wanted some garden advice. DGDs busy sketching their heavily laden apple tree and this then turned into a crazy treasure hunt game confused They always try to lead me to climbe into their treehouse!

Went for a training day for the Flower festival. Humid and steamy. Hope the flowers survive. Lots of orchids and those plasticky flowers beloved by flower arrangers.wish someone would do an exquisite arrangement of "end of summer garden with nothing much to show"

OMG my DD has rung to say her DH is due to go to the USA for work for about 10 days next month. She works nursing shifts and she will need help to get DGS from or to nursery on the days she works when DH is away!

I will get to be hands on! It's getting scary. I have no idea how to get a modern disposable nappy comfortably on the bottom of a wriggly nearly 1yr old boy and make it watertight. Its been 34 yrs since I need to get a nappy on a boy and then it was one of the all encompassing terry toweling ones. The position of the "hose" causes problems, girls are much easier to nappy up!

LizG Wed 28-Aug-13 23:15:27

Don't panic Nelliemoser as I have proved today it is easier than you think and so much easier than terry nappies. I have three daughters and was petrified at the thought of dealing with a boy, but no problem smile

Elegran Thu 29-Aug-13 08:52:31

At least you will not be thrusting safety pins through the terry towelling.

Gally Thu 29-Aug-13 09:10:19

Nellie. I had 3 daughters and now have 5 gs's. it's a doddle so long as the hose is pointing downwards!

Today I'm over the moon!
I received lots of birthday cards in the post and was thrilled to find one of them was a photo card - the kind you make online - from my three grandchildren. I really didn't dare to hope that my (estranged) daughter would remember it's my sixtieth, much less that she would send me such a lovely card. There are four photo's on the front; one each of the children and one of the three of them together. It's made my day. [silly grin emoticon]

Actually it's not my birthday until Monday, but we're off on holiday tomorrow. My daughter doesn't know that so it's doubly amazing that she sent me a card AND it arrived early.

Ariadne Thu 29-Aug-13 11:20:39

ga happy, happy birthday in advance, and enjoy your holiday - you deserve it! cupcake

Ariadne Thu 29-Aug-13 11:24:25

Been to the doctor and had the results of my knee x rays. Right knee has severe osteo arthritis, left not so bad. At least it explains the bad pain I have!
The lateral joint on the right is knackered (note my use of medical terminology) so a replacement is on the cards.

Think I might get my cataracts done before that - apparently it's my shout for that. What do the rest of you think? #fallingapartatthe seams

Gagagran Thu 29-Aug-13 11:42:39

It's my 70th on Saturday and we're off tomorrow to enjoy a three day break courtesy of Gransnet - won it some time ago and saved it for my birthday treat! I will think of you all as we have a birthday drink or two and send grateful thanks to all at GN HQ for such a lovely prize. winewinesunshine

Ariadne, I`m on the waiting list for a knee replacement, hoping it won`t be too long in coming, all the best to you when your turn comes around.
Spent some of today bringing hubby home from hospital AGAIN, after his second major op in less than a month. I was going to say hopefully we won`t be there again, but nearly forgot about my knee!

Oldgreymare Fri 30-Aug-13 17:33:18

Number hope hubby perks up now he's home, look after your knees, not too much fetching and carrying flowers
