Some women were complaining about having to pay for the creche today.

I can understand them wanting to leave their child in the crèche at the Leisure Centre for free but don't they realise the money will have to come from somewhere either council tax payers or by putting the price of the classes up for everyone.

Don't worry
I was paying out more in tax than what I was getting in carers allowance.
Carers allowance is not means tested and Dad was entitled to attendance allowance so that triggered off carers allowance.
Income from working over a certain amount will disqualify you from getting carers allowance but not from having an occupational pension in payment.
If you are getting a state pension you can not qualify for carers allowance.
If I could not have looked after Dad he would have had to gone in to care and the tax payer would have had to pay a lot more than my carers allowance.
The council could not have got any money from the house as

a) I am an owner occupier.
b) I was over 60 at the time.

Frank you forgot to say when you got your London Pension you also told us you got a very hefty redundancy payment,so why should you get help from outside of your family you obviously did what was financially good for you at the time, and be careful you are going to make yourself ill fretting about who gets what and why they get it,I have never come across such an outlook on life as yours.I don't begrudge anything spent on services at all,I could complain about never needing the Fire Service/or the cost of schools now mine don't attend the list is endless.

Why did you get carers allowance for looking after you own father Frank?
Why did he get attendance allowance?

My taxes would have been paying towards that ! shock

I dont get carers allowance for saving the tax payers thousands of pounds for looking after my mum and grandma!

Think of all the help I give to people when Social Workers want them to sell their houses unlawfully.

All I got for my father was carers allowance and he got attendance allowance as I was only getting an occupational pension.
Nobody outside the family offered us any other help.

Oh Frank that's rubbish and you know it !

Yes you can "go on and on giving services......" isn't that what happens with our taxes? I pay tax (have no choice) to pay for services that I do not use or indeed benefit from.

In that case the tax payer can pay for my car too (twice over) as I take my mum backwards and forwards to hospital n (15 miles away)and have to take time out of work to do so. I also save the tax payers of the UK thousands per month by enabling my 97 year old grandma to stay in her own home.

Why do you so begrudge helping anyone less fortunate than yourself?

You can go on an on giving services free to certain people at the expense of others.
Probably dog food should be free at we are giving dogs a home and also vets.
Also the tax payer should have paid for my car for the last 4 years of my father's life as most of his hospital appointments were on the south side of Birmingham where as we live on the north side. He was a blue badge holder.
I know a parent who used the crèche because both had appointments at different hospitals at the same time.

Hello Frank My earlier remark was very much tongue in cheek (as I am sure you already know) but you don't half seem to attract complaints/complainers. smile

Surely we all contribute to things we don't need or use in one way or another. If a small part of the fees go towards running the creche what would be the problem? Perhaps there should be a charge for those using it from outside to go shopping etc.

I think Gerry must be on holiday somewhere which has no access to Wi Fi.

The hotels I go to generally have free Wi Fi.

If people do not like 1 person in town if they have not committed any offence would be for the complainants to ask him / her to move and to offer to pay all the removal costs.

My daughters use the crèche and do not complain about paying.
I am on the authorised list to collect the children and I tend to go up to the crèche when I am at the centre so the staff keep getting reminded of me.
I agree that it should be paid for separately because:

a) Why should members who never have children contribute through raised fees?.

b) People sometimes use it when they are not using the centre eg going shopping.

Maybe if Frank moved out of the town the level of complaints would drop dramatically!

HUNTERF I used to live in a town which I reckoned was the fake tan capital of the country. It seems that you live in a place with the most complaining women in the country.

If Dads were looking after their children - would their use of the creche be free, Frank? Surely the membership fee could cover this eventuality? And even if you didn't have small children, perhaps the Creche could accept Cairn terriers or other small animals?
