Games for adults

How about "who am I" someone thinks of a famous person and the others have to ask questions to find out who it is.

The Vicar's cat is an "angry" cat, "adorable" cat, "audacious" cat. Take it in turns and whoever runs out of adjectives beginning with a is out and then you start on b and go right through the alphabet.

The shopping list game where everyone repeats the list and adds an item of their own eg I went shopping and I bought some carrots and 2nd person says I went shopping and I bought some carrots and a football etc. This game is good for the memory !

What about where you start your word with the last letter of the word previously spoken?

Or where you have to repeat a song title starting with the previous person's last word?

Or work through the alphabet naming different animals. Or countries. Or given names. Or flowers.

Then there is Fizz-bang. You count up from one, each person saying the next number. Simple - except that whenever you reach a number that divides by, say five, you say fizz - one two three four fizz six seven eight nine fizz and so on.

To make it more difficult, you can then also add "bang" for numbers that divide by another number, and if they divide by both numbers you say fizz-bang - one two three bang fizz six seven bang nine fizz eleven bang thirteen fourteen fizz bang seventeen eighteen nineteen fizz-bang twentyone . . .

If they all had a glass of , it would be much more fun!

It would make the games more difficult, too. Hilarity all round.

The Victorians were exrtraordinarily fond of these games and a book from the library on Victorian parlour games ( I've got one somewhere ,just looked and it does not come to hand) should supply you with such games to last a lifetime!

Suggest a British town/city/village etc and the next person has to think of another place which begins with the last letter of the previous one. No repetitions. It works well with older kids on long car journeys.

We play a twist on sunseekers idea.

The group agree on a famous person. We then stick a post it on the forehead of the person who is 'it' they then ask group questions that have a yes no answer. "Am I female' Am I over 50' etc.

What about a dictionary game? Let the dictionary fall open at any page, pick a word on any of the two open pages and first prize to the person who gives correct definition/explanation, or the opposite of the word, or tells an interesting story using the word. Simple but it can be good fun.
