I meant to last night but, having had 2/3 DGC all weekend and then their parents at lunchtime, bed had the biggest pull!

Might tonight but a friend is coming for supper and somehow too much wine is consumed to make a late night an option.

I will try, but it's very overcast at the moment, so hopefully it will clear later.

ninathenana Mon 12-Aug-13 12:43:26

Me and OH definitely.
Fingers crossed for a clear sky.

Greatnan Mon 12-Aug-13 12:54:13

I will be out on my balcony - I look at the stars most nights, as we have no light pollution here.

Tegan Mon 12-Aug-13 13:00:48

What time do I need to start looking? When is pre dawn??

Butty Mon 12-Aug-13 13:14:29

Check out dawn time on google for where you live. A couple of hours before that is apparently the best time. Happy gazing.

The papers in London today said to watch from "after midnight". I'll be sawing logs then!

Tegan Mon 12-Aug-13 14:42:52

I'd better go to bed now, then wink....

Butty Mon 12-Aug-13 15:57:07

grin.

I tried at about 11.30 on Saturday and saw 3 while standing outside in my nightie. Don't think the sky will be clear here tonight, but at least I've made a wish now.

NfkDumpling Mon 12-Aug-13 19:42:17

I'd like to think I'll be up at 3.30am. But it's probably a dream.

I will have a look before bed though - may be lucky.

Tegan Mon 12-Aug-13 23:25:29

My son just phoned me to say he'd already seen several shooting stars; I'm going to make a cup of tea and sit in the garden for a while. It's such a clear night as well. I'd sit in the car and watch them but the neighbours might think I'm bonkers.

Granny23 Tue 13-Aug-13 04:01:31

Who started this? I have been staring at the sky for an hour now and seen nothing, zilch, zero. All I have for my trouble is a cricked neck. Off to bed now ( after one last look..........zzz.......

Butty Tue 13-Aug-13 07:29:47

I wasn't disappointed last night. A lovely meteor shower around midnight. smile

whenim64 Tue 13-Aug-13 07:46:33

I went in the garden at 1am, and saw a few shooting stars. I hope there'll be more to see tonight. smile

Galen Tue 13-Aug-13 08:04:39

Didn't see any.

Sook Tue 13-Aug-13 08:11:34

Two very lively DGC left me exhausted yesterday I slept like the dead last night and missed the show sad

henetha Tue 13-Aug-13 10:08:06

I went for a walk along the lane to a dark bit last night at 11.30 and saw several in the ten minutes that I stood there. It was great! So glad I made the effort.

kittylester Tue 13-Aug-13 10:32:43

The wine with our friend last night caused me to wake up at 4am so I looked out. I didn't see any shooting stars but what looked like millions of static stars - fabulous!

grandimars Tue 13-Aug-13 11:30:05

I tried last night just after midnight, but couldn't look up for long and didn't see anything. I suffer from benign positional vertigo, and if I put my head back I soon go dizzy and even fall over. I'll look again tonight, sitting in a chair and see how that goes.

dustyangel Tue 13-Aug-13 11:45:01

DH went to the bath room at 5am which would have been just the right time for here. I was very tempted to get up but I suffer from positional vertigo as well so I decided that it wasn't worth the effort. Good job because DH told me this morning that it was actually only 2am.smile

Is it all over now? It was amazing before 12 o'clock but clouded over later on. Had I had today off I would have stayed up all night; I set the alarm for 4 but was too tired to sit outside. Must make a point of watching it next year will also try to be somewhere out of town as well.
