A lovely morning.......

I am suffused with sunshine, beauty and goodwill! The sky is cloudless here and I have just returned from a three hour mountain walk. I chose the hardest route up to the ski slopes, to give myself a cardiovascular work-out. The path rises very steeply through a thick forest and today it was made even more difficult because the foresters had left several very large trees lying across the narrow path. Some of them were waist high and I have never mastered that trick of putting the flat of your hands on a surface and levering yourself up, so it was a good job there was nobody around to see my very ungraceful clambering. Another problem was the large amounts of dead branches and foliage, which often hid deep holes, so I had to probe ahead with my walking poles. I do love the smell of newly felled trees though.
I reached the ski slopes after an hour and found a bench where I could have my picnic lunch, looking out at what is arguably one of the most beautiful views in the world. I then did the sensible thing, and walked back home down the road, which is much longer but very easy. WhenIm64 - you will be pleased to hear that I can drive you right up to the bench to see the view - even my sister was impressed by it.
I hope you have all had as good a morning as me.

Greatnan I would love to see that view, and I'm relieved that my wonky knee won't prevent me getting up there! I'm looking forward to visiting you next month. Gransnet has been instrumental in quite a few of us being able to meet up in the last year or so. I never expected I would be visiting your part of the world again when I joined.

By the way, does anyone know when anno is returning from her holidays?

That's amazing. I've been doing housework. Never mind! hmm

One of the advantages of living in a tiny flat, alone, and being mildy OCD, jingle, is that I rarely have any housework waiting to be done (but I have cleaned the oven, and done some washing and ironing whilst listening to The Wright Stuff, which I had recorded). I think Anno will be back next week, When. You can pick her brains about Yvoire, Annecy, Chamonix, Evian les Bains, Aosta, lake cruises and short, flat walks. You are coming for a month, aren't you? smile

Even you wouldn't be able to tolerate me for a month, Greatnan! grin

I have just tolerated the world's best complainer for three weeks!
