I think grandma does understand why she is still in hospital but she can't understand why things just can't go back to "normal" . She thinks that the medication she is having is "repairing" her leaky heart valve and that she is getting better. She doesn't seem to realise that she is 97 and that there is very little they can do for her at her age. I am cross with social services who just don't seem to grasp that I am only one person trying to look after grandma and mam plus grandchildren and work too. Just wonder when they will bother their arses show up and do this care review? Probably when I am not there with grandma and god knows what she will tell them she can do for herself? angry

Dull and showery in Brum. Were going to visit the lovely International Food Market in the city centre but I think we'll leave that until tomorrow as the forecast is better!

Good thinking from that friend Vegas. The cakes are amazing. We had strawberry cheesecake and coffee and walnut cake yesterday. Fabulous! smile

Morning all - grey and miserable here in Manc. Gillybob what would your family do without you? Sook after rave reviews for the Ash tearooms from you and when I emailed 2 friends to see if they fancied lunch or tea there, including the link so they could peruse the menu. Reply came back from one friend that she would love to do afternoon tea, but the other friend suggested we go for lunch, buying their cakes to take home for afternoon tea. Genius! grin

Good morning everyone, slept late this morning, and the weather is not looking good, so perhaps I should have stayed in bed. Nothing exciting on the agenda, but enjoy your days.

Stick to your guns gillybob. I hope that, like my mum, grandma understands why she's still there. Mum got quite angry with the doctor who suggested she was bed blocking (and mum was very good at anger!)

Threatening rain here in Cheshire, not a lot planned for today.

gillybob life is so complicated for you I guess your grandma won't be discharged until next week, such a shame for her. I hope things are going as well as can be expected for your mum .

gillybob Isn't it frustrating? I know a couple of daughters who have this 'will it happen or not' scenario to deal with, as if there isn't enough stress.

It's been raining here already and more to come apparently! I'm meeting friends for coffee and then going on to lunch with some other friends............... well, what else can you do when it's raining?

gillybob Sat 17-Aug-13 08:33:37

Good morning everyone . It is a little windy here in the North East coast. Looks like it could rain later. Thankfully I did all grandmas hospital washing yesterday so it's all dry and ready to take back today. She is really disappointed as was hoping to leave hospital yesterday but social services said that they "didn't have time to do a review of her care" and she couldn't leave unless I signed a document accepting 100% responsibility for her care. I refused to sign so bless her she is still in hospital .

Good morning. Sunny start again here. Must tackle the somewhat large pile of ironing that has accumulated!! Then probably will pop up and have a mooch round the brocante fair that is on locally. Having good fun too with our friends who are staying.
Gally. I hope the forecast is totally wrong about the rain - enjoy your trip.

Haven't looked outside yet but it doesn't feel good! That's because we (DD and family) are going to N.Devon to a cousin's 40th birthday party where we are all expected to camp for the night. Cream tea and sports followed by disco - all outside, and the forecast is abysmal. Such a shame after all the lovely weather of the past month. sunshine

Lovely warm sunny morning in north Norfolk. But I gather it's not going to last. Best get started on the washing!

Morning all! Mixed here too, I think. Off to see 'Relatively Speaking' this afternoon and then West Side Story at Sadlers Wells. What to wear for mixed weather today and a Scarecrow Festival the next day confused

Hope you all have a lovely day.
